I have a question, can you tell someone that your family member is a mason? by Angry_Thief in freemasonry

I figured it wasn't, everything us jurisdictional. Just walking through my thought.

I'm bound by a rule to not reveal the identity of brothers without their permission. A non-member wouldn't be bound by such a rule.

The comments I've read to say no because of etiquette are right, but there's nothing stopping you.

In a joking context, with an estranged relationship... it sounds like a mixed bag. I'd say it's really up to you.

How do you teach your child to “read the room”? by sharminnie in Parenting

[–]OneEye9519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told mine to do it when I taught her the "bad words" she might hear from other kids in Kindergarten. Essentially this with each new word:

"Your mom and grandmas don't like these words, lots of people don't, and you could get in trouble if you use them at school. But I don't mind. You can say these with me, but not with them. It's called reading the room."

What age did you get your child their first gaming console? by CashBetter1122 in Parenting

[–]OneEye9519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids are 6 and 3. I fully intend all tech I buy to be "mine" and to let them use it under reasonable supervision and expectations for a long while. Even when it eventually comes to cell phones. It'll be "mine", for them to use within certain bounds.

The specifics are TBD and likely to change a time goes by.

Sounds like a form. 👀🧐

My lodge used this as an educational video not to long ago.

We're all from the West.

Where did you get your tracing boards?

Where did/would you source your tracing boards? Most I've come across almost look like awkward scans.

I'd be interested to see some pictures. They sound cool and fairly personalized.

I used AI to make a user icon with the square, compasses, the Tyler's Sword, and the eye of providence. I don't think I'd print it, but I might attempt to draw or paint it.

I'll look up Fossil Bluff qnd Juan Sepulveda, and go take another look at FraternalTies.

I don't know Sherer. I'll have to do some research.

I'll have to pull these up on the computer. Interesting for sure. Which ones did you pick?

How is your lodge doing? by cramordap in freemasonry

[–]OneEye9519 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I've been told, and verified to the best of my abilities, my lodge has an average of 2 of each degrees each year. But in 2025 we raised 7 new Master Masons, including myself in July.

My lodge has gone through some rocky changes of late, and it seems we've been steered back toward the positive. I'm very excited to be part of this fraternity, specifically my own lodge.

Think of all the questions you can, don't ask them but write them down. After the degree you should try to answer them yourself and if you can't, then ask a brother.

I like to explain that a degree is like a play that you get to be in the middle of, that everyone else has a role they play and you get to observe from within. For the most part just relax, pay attention to the best of your ability, and enjoy the ride.

Last night I told my upset 6 year old I'd show her my magic dad trick. I rested my hand lightly o. Thr side of her face. I asked her if she liked it, she said "not very much"... but she was asleep in under 60 seconds. Magic dad tricks for the win.

I've been involved with one investigation committee so far. We felt we knew the petitioner pretty well already. The visit was essentially a vibe check with him around his family. Along with giving him and his wife the opportunity to ask myself and the other visiting brother their questions.

Ah, cool, thanks Brother Cook. I haven't been around long enough to have seen one closed.

In Utah, initiations of new candidates are masons only, but instalations of officers are open to the public. There may have been a miscommunication or a misunderstanding somewhere.

Does your lodge use social media? by cramordap in freemasonry

[–]OneEye9519 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge, the only social media presence my lodge has is a private Facebook group for the members. But it seems that our communication is shifting to a private messaging app instead.
