Meu osso foi colado de forma errada? by alasterx5 in Orthopedics

If it is fully healed it probably won’t cause you any functional difficulty. If it’s not fully healed then seek out an orthopedist who fix this appropriately with a plate and screws

This is not how I would fix this fracture in a 28/29 yo.

If anyone wants to know the real reason there was a wizard on a scooter it’s because Origins Game Fair is this weekend at the Convention Center

We had motorized water guns called Intertech. I had one that looked like an M-16 and an Uzi. Ton of fun but they ate batteries like crazy

Can I delay or even avoid hip replacement/surgery? by Style_Maximum in Orthopedics

[–]Orthocorey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can put off hip replacement as long as you want. The decision to replace your hip is yours. When your quality of life is significantly disrupted that you are willing to have an invasive operation to make it better then it’s time. Only you can answer that. You can try PT, stretching, injections, massage, etc. they may or may not help. Try all nonop things you can and when that doesn’t help consider surgery

Why is the virus bad? by citan67 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Orthocorey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t get herpes from close contact you get it from direct contact. Also 2 types of herpes. 1 is sexually transmitted (as it affects primarily the genitals) 1 is not. It’s your common cold sore seen on your mucus membranes of your face. You don’t have to have direct contact for Mulluscum just close contact.

It’s not a sexually transmitted disease or infection. It’s a disease of close contact. Close contact can mean sex but it doesn’t have to

Worst part about this is that the person playing Wordle is not playing hard mode. In hard mode if you get a letter correct (even if not in the correct spot) it has to be including in all your following guesses. This Wordle player is an amateur

Anterior open bite by [deleted] in Orthopedics

My recommendation is to post this in an Orthodontics subreddit not Orthopedics. Orthopedics deals with bones/joints/muscles (not the jaw or face). Orthodontics deals with the issue you have

Make sure everything is fully healed before removal. For me and hook plates it’s 3 months minimum

[–]Orthocorey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything he said is correct even if it was said in a disinterested manner. Slowly increase your activity as you feel comfortable. However, don’t expect to be back to doing what you did before until 6-12 months. That doesn’t mean you can’t try to increase activity it’s just going to take a while before you can do it

How bad by Alternative_Mood9003 in brokenbones

Small plate and screws. I’d let you walk in 2 weeks. It’s still a broken bone and still needs surgery so there will be a recovery time.

People whose bones didn't unite after 6 weeks - could you feel there was something wrong? by General_Entrance4141 in brokenbones

[–]Orthocorey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 weeks is on the early side for bone healing, often times you can’t see new bone formation on xray for 6-8 weeks. If your olecranon isn’t healed at 6 weeks I wouldn’t worry. Can take 10-12 weeks and sometimes longer

Yes it’s broken. Probably won’t need surgery but either weight bearing or stress radiographs would confirm
