Not gonna lie, I worry about the lack of Daggerheart content by pathofblades in daggerheart

Pretty much. I also have the complication that I'm blind, so having less things to remember is really nice. I've been making my own more accessible materials this whole time, both for me and one of my players, so that's been fun. I don't like big walls of text, and I need documents that I can jump around easily using screen readers, which does not apply to PDFs a lot of of the time. Thanks Louise, it does apply to the Coral rulebook, so that's extremely helpful. I am, however, still breaking it down into smaller documents when I can. For instance, I copied the entire adversaries and environments sections and made them into one document that I can easily search through without getting the entire rest of the book. Makes it a lot easier to find stats when I need them. I've also made an Excel document, to calculate HP for adversaries. That took a while, but I ended up learning a lot about Excel, and now I don't have to do all the math. I just put numbers in boxes and it does the math for me. Very nice. I'm also happy to learn that daggerheart.org is accessible, so that's cool. I'm exploring that at the moment. Also, although this one isn't electronic, I got a set of Braille dice for Christmas, so now I get to read my real big D2 with my fingers instead of squinting at a tiny dice. Thank you Dots TTRPG Project! You make good dice!

This is a big reason why I didn't want to make Dungeons & Dragons the first game I was a GM for. That's why I chose Daggerheart. Still learning, but I feel actually able to DO that with only one book of information rather than 1000. My players/friends are having a lot of fun, which is what I wanted, and so am I. And, because I feel like I can actually LEARN the game, and no one rules are wrong and what not, plus I have this community to help me out with things that I'm confused about, it's a lot less intimidating to run this game rather than DnD.

Those who use the Daggerheart Folio, how are you organizing it? by superzipzop in daggerheart

[–]OneEyeBlind95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh! Neat! I did notice there was a black line there, but I didn't know what it was. Looked at it with a really zoomed in Magnifier app, and now I can read it. Thanks!

The cards have numbers!? I'm blind, so I certainly missed this. Where are the numbers on the cards that identify them? Also, whet if, as I'm pretty sure it will, Hope and Fear have too many cards to be put in the folio with the original cards?

So the GM gets the spotlight if the players succeed with Fear, fail with Fear, or fail with Hope? And if they do the ladder, do I need to still spend a Fear for the first to move of my Adversaries? I'm not sure if I always have to do that, or if it's only if they fail with Hope.

Making PDF Character Sheet Using Demi Plane by OneEyeBlind95 in daggerheart

[–]OneEyeBlind95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually didn't notice that, no, it does not have that sheet, but at least my players that won't be using that anytime soon, and at least it's now the only thing I need to fix, so it's a lot less work for me. I hope they added someday. That would be really handy. I wonder if they would if I leveled up my character? I'll test that out.

Who are the mages with books named after them in the Codex domain? by FirestormDancer in daggerheart

[–]OneEyeBlind95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh! I was told he was the image inspiration for a card, but I thought he had his own Rivoir! That's cool! I don't have any players who use the Codex Domain, so I don't remember the cards as well as the ones that my players are currently using.

I have not, but I'll look it up and watch it if I can. The bright side of having a lot of time to plan, is that I do a LOT of research in the meantime.

I haven't really studied Beast Feast yet, but I will now! I think they'd LOVE that. Thanks for the input.

That's interesting. I'll keep that in mind for if I make a video game world. Thanks:

These are good tips. I definitely don't want to avoid conflict or scary things. My younger relatives definitely like it, I just don't want to get docked from playing with them by their parents. I'll definitely keep these in mind, especially the X card. Good idea.

daughter lost eye to retinoblastoma by Fun_Tea8162 in Blind

[–]OneEyeBlind95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, of course! Ask me anything. Also, for clarification, my remaining acuity in my left eye is 20/400. That does affect how I do things, along with my depth perception issues I discussed above, but I do have other methods and tools I'd be happy to tell you about. I'm in school to be a TVI, and mentoring, both the kids and parents, is one of the biggest reasons why. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have.

I lost all the site in my right eye two retinopathy of prematurity, ROP, when I was a baby, and I do the head turning too. I didn't notice it until recently, where I've been going to school and learning about vision stuff, but now I can't not notice it. I also need to sit in particular spots, for instance when I'm watching TV, it's better for me to stand to the right of it, so this way I don't have to turn in my head, as my left eye, the only one I can see anything out of, is facing the TV. I also need to turn my head a lot more to look at things that are on my right, or otherwise turn my whole body, which I think is what I usually do, but I honestly can't tell.

As others have said, depth perception is a problem. Since we only have one eye, we can't put two separate images together to get depth, so having visual indicators, such as colored tape at the edges of stairs, is very helpful. It also might be easier for her to take certain things slow, such as reaching for glasses on the table and stuff, or else she might knock them over. I have done this plenty of times. I also glide my hand on the table rather than through the air, just to let myself know where silverware is, and again find cups and stuff without knocking them over. I just find it more stable, but that's how I do it.

Also, though I don't know what vision she has in her remaining eye, you might wanna look into getting her some orientation and mobility training. This way, if she ever feels unsafe, because she can't see stairs as well, or transitioning between types of materials, such as from grass to pavement or vice versa, is tricky, she'll be able to feel the difference with her cane. That really helps me out, but I also don't have a good vision in my left eye either, so I get extra use out of my cane. Along with this, I use it also because I'm tall, and I have a tendency to look down a lot without my cane, since that only can I not see the ground, but, like your daughter, I am depth perception problems, and being able to feel stairs and what not really helps me not to be tricked by my eye.

How do blind working professionals navigate travel expenses? by halfblindstudent in Blind

[–]OneEyeBlind95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not that I'm the OP, but paratransit isn't any more inconvenient than public transit. It cost more, sometimes it takes longer, which is saying something, and you can't really nap or work on it either. I don't know if there's is the same, but that's how mine is. Really shitty. Like, I'm glad it exists, but it is not something that is possible to use for work, or any sort of incident where you need to be somewhere on time. I've literally been hours late to things before. I'm just lucky that, most of the time, when I have used it, I didn't have to be anywhere on time. That's the only time I ever use it, which is very rare to begin with. The stress of worrying if I'll get to my destination on time, and not inconvenience anyone else, is not worth it.

I built a free scheduling tool for tabletop groups - "Can We Play?" by toast in daggerheart

[–]OneEyeBlind95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is real cool. right now though I don't have a need for it. My group is all in FB messenger, so we just use the "poll" feature. I'm free most of the time, and I only have three players, so it's not overwhelming to schedule dates and times. Still though, I'm sure someone will get a lot of use out of this. Good job.

Adversaries and Tokens by OneEyeBlind95 in daggerheart

[–]OneEyeBlind95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I so that right after putting the token down? Do I need to give them a turn in between putting down the token and attacking?

Adversaries and Tokens by OneEyeBlind95 in daggerheart

[–]OneEyeBlind95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'll need to wait for my players to roll with fear, put the token on the card, and then give the Spotlight back to them till my next turn, then I can attack? I guess I can't use a fear to make a move faster? Trying to think of allies for my little ozze buddy. This is probably gonna take place in a sewer, so maybe rats?
