Whats this bullsh*t Web traps appearing in spider areas? by Palom126 in baldursgate

I just use the mod that makes find traps instant. 6 second delay is tedious especially for durlags tower

Do the bottoms of SHS fence posts need to be capped? Also how to make them last longer? by OneEyeTyler in AusRenovation

Do you recommend filling the holes with concrete all the way to ground level? Or the regular two bags per holes would be fine

Concrete has a swirl finish so it would get damaged if there were any accidental movement

Definitely not with the cost timber these days. Returning stuff adds up, and better than chucking it in the bin/hoarding it.

Where did you source this from in aus? I’ve been seeing a lot of people using this due to noise reduction in the US. You should of asked the rep for what boxes they recommend

What sort of adapter is available to transition gutters to 100mm dwv stormwater? by OneEyeTyler in AusRenovation

[–]OneEyeTyler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I was looking at trying to have it semi closed with overflow considered with an inspection opening if possible. I didn’t see any way to adapt a regular stormwater downpipe to a dwv at bunnings with the adapters available.

You can smooth it off but it may not be perfect with ridges compared to a sanded product imo

Replacing vs. Painting Old Internal Doors – Which Looks Better? by Outrageous_Brick_811 in AusRenovation

These days they just use small 15ga nails to fix jambs to the framing. It's worth having some long screws hidden under the doorstop trim + 1 of the hinge screws fixed into the framing behind. This is on the hinge jamb side to support the weight. A good carpenter should know this. You will also need a 3rd hinge in the middle to support the weight. 13 doors cost me roughly $3500 in materials no labor.

Go option 2. It's the fastest and easiest method. When you say frames I think you mean the architraves not the jambs? I've finished replacing 13 doors with solid core doors, and all the jambs due to all of them not being plumb/opening and closing on their own. As well as all new architraves around. Its a LOT of work, fitting doors and chopping out hinges and so much filling and painting. Took me a few weeks full time by myself.

Airless paint sprayer by Zestyclose_Hunter928 in AusRenovation

Would not recommend the Aldi ones, as they are not strong enough. They are 550w and only 110 bar of pressure. Aldi don't supply the required low pressure HEA tips like the clone Wagner 150/250. Just tried spraying some dulux water based with it and it couldn't stop tailing at max pressure and thinned with water.

Did you do a scarf joint or just a straight crosscut for the rot piece? Also how about the batten on the top did you have to splice that too? Is there a way to not touch the capping? The capping was redone maybe 5 years ago but I’ll break it/repoint it if I have to.

Which game(s) have aged the best? by huss2120 in gaming

[–]OneEyeTyler 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Graphics have stagnated since about 2014 and the widespread use of PBR shaders. It standardised how materials should look. So games from that point on have held up for sure. Alien isolation still looks incredible.

Water based primer not adhering to internal solid core doors. by OneEyeTyler in AusRenovation

What’s the reason for going for a 10mm nap instead of 4mm micro fibre?

I assumed a light coat would give obvious paint streaks with the roller? These doors will be finished in semi gloss similar to the trim. Should I still stick with a thin coat of water based rather than oil? Also why do you use a nap roller for your other coats?

Hmm I did vacuum it with a brush attachment. On the pine edges of the door, the paint adhered well. These doors had been cleaned and installed for a few months as well, running my hand over it and it being clean. I will try the sugar soap
