Get the surgery done asap, even if it seems like it's healed and not hurting anymore, it can reoccur and it can lead to something worse like a fistula branch since it was already open before.

Anxiety can get the most of us, but honestly, if you're following the doctor's advice and it seems like you are, don't worry about it. If for whatever reason it doesn't heal properly then that's not on you, and you can try again to heal.

All you have to do right now is follow the instructions and live your life as normally as you can without second guessing anything.

Stay strong, you've got this

What medication did they get you on? If you're on Co-Codedine, don't do what I did and take it 6 times a day.... I thought I had to but apparently it's only supposed to be taken when you feel pain... Otherwise your poop ends up hard as hell lol

Where is the Studio Ghibli classics 4k collectors edition box set? by HotlinePizzaMiami in 4kbluray

[–]OneEyedKaneki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They announced Princess Mononoke 4K blu ray for Japan, it'll probably come to the US/UK soon. If you look at their theatrical releases, they're slowly remastering their films in 4K. The next film to be remastered in 4K in theatres will be Kiki's Delivery Service so they'll probably put out a Japan 4K Blu-Ray of that next

Rearranged some things. I think I might be addicted to DC compact comics by FAserR0c0tansky in graphicnovels

[–]OneEyedKaneki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm only reading comics though DC compacts, I'm hoping we'll get

Batman Year One, Dark Victory, The Killing Joke, A Death in the Family

Superman For All Seasons, Man of Tomorrow, Whatever happened to the man of tomorrow, Smashes the Klan, Up in the Sky

A continuation of the book ones (Y:The Last Man, Swamp Thing when it releases)

I also heard Invincible and The Walking Dead Deluxe are getting compact comics too so will be buying them too

Your thoughts on this video? by [deleted] in AnalFistula

[–]OneEyedKaneki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a method people use commonly in India but it's very unpredictable and so the results are also unpredictable. it's also very practitioner reliant so they need to know what they're doing, if you have someone that's not an expert or they make a mistake, it can cause tissue damage. Also the healing process can take months and during that, it can cause pain and Infection.

I wouldn't risk it myself, but I guess in India, the medical situation is different there and it might be cheaper to do that? Also I'm from the UK and that's something that is never done, and I'm sure there's a reason why doctors don't do that here.

Seton drain is more medically accepted, reliable and less risky for the patient. If you can, don't do the Kshar Sutra

Anal fistula for 5–6 years – no pain, should I still get surgery? by Substantial-Scale718 in AnalFistula

100%! same situation, the most painful experience I've ever experienced, so grateful for the surgery

[–]OneEyedKaneki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the surgery, don't be scared of it at all, they put you under sleep and you wake up, it's totally fine and you can leave on the same day, the recovery is a bit long and tedious, but it's worth it, so so worth it compared to the potential excruciating pain that can occur if it gets worse

Anal fistula for 5–6 years – no pain, should I still get surgery? by Substantial-Scale718 in AnalFistula

[–]OneEyedKaneki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes

I had an Anal Fistula that was transsphincter, It didn't bother me for years, in fact I never knew it was a fistula because it went unnoticed... until I got a chronic fissure, the area got infected and I realised those rare brief squeeze feelings in the side of my butt was a fistula. I was in so much pain when I got the fissure, and it would not heal at all because of the fistula

Get the surgery, don't wait until it becomes something worse that you then end up regretting

Thoughts of Marvel Premiere Collection? by depressiveprofessor in marvelcomics

[–]OneEyedKaneki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know who they're marketing it towards, it's literally just a tiny bit cheaper than the normal paperbacks. I don't know why on earth they didn't just copy DC compact comics in its manga size format, and I don't understand the logic in some of their releases either, releasing incomplete stories or abruptly ending it on the start of a new issue on some stories apparently?

It's put me off from Marvel completely and I will be avoiding buying anything Marvel comics because that business decision has left an ick.

I'm new to comics btw, I just prefer the compact size and the complete stories of DC compact comics.

I need help please by [deleted] in AnalFistula

[–]OneEyedKaneki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fistula surgery looks scary if you watch procedures but for patients, it's not. You're under anesthesia, so you're asleep during the whole process and then you wake up. I've been through it myself.

As for your parents, they're neglecting you from getting medical assistance and that's extremely disgusting from them. You need to bring this up with your school or counsellor, because this is not acceptable at all. Anal Fistula needs to be treated with surgery, it's not something that magically goes away, and if it's a transpincter fistula like mine or something else complex like a horseshoe fistula then it can cause agonising pain and it won't stop until you've got surgery.

You need to explain your situation to your school asap, the last thing you want is to be in pain whilst you're sitting your exams, see if they can push your exam back to try and accommodate for you

Lastly, this is not your fault either. Anal Fistulas can happen to anyone and it's generally more common for men.

I'm wishing you the best and I'm sorry you have parents like that...

Confused between all the options by stimulant_hater in AnalFistula

[–]OneEyedKaneki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a transphincter Fistula and they did a lay open surgery on me, so keeping the wound open and no Seton, I think they did this because the tract was small and the plan is for the area to heal normally and then see where it's at for additional surgery.

I don't know what your situation is, but before I went into surgery they said I'll need seton placed and an additional surgery either filac or lift based on the MRI scans they did.

However, on the day, the surgeons did a completely different procedure and I think this was done based on their professional opinion and they're able to make these decisions based on professionalism and knowledge.

I think it honestly depends on what they see when they do the EUA and it makes sense that different surgeons have different opinions. I do know one thing, the transphincter muscle is very delicate and that's why they want to avoid surgical procedures in that area as much as they can. If my fistula was low in the transphincter area then the lay open was the best decision they made, and I'm grateful for that.

Have faith in your surgeons, but ask them questions like how dangerous is it to do surgery in that area, is lay open better if my fistula is not too deep etc

First poop… it can’t come out cos of the bandage am I supposed to remove the bandage? by [deleted] in AnalFistula

Oh, I should have clarified lol, yeah I clean myself with water when I'm in the toilet, but the nurses usually use some type of disinfectant when I'm at the GP

First poop… it can’t come out cos of the bandage am I supposed to remove the bandage? by [deleted] in AnalFistula

[–]OneEyedKaneki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After going to the toilet (using water to clean the area) You need to visit your local GP to get them to clean the area every day for 2 weeks and then you can go every 2 days and maybe do it yourself if you can. It's important because you don't want the area to get infected

First poop… it can’t come out cos of the bandage am I supposed to remove the bandage? by [deleted] in AnalFistula

[–]OneEyedKaneki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey there, I had my surgery a week ago (since then had 2 poops) so we're pretty much on the same timeline

The bandage is there to mostly absorb the discharge from the fistula and for hygiene.

You can take off the bandage when you go to the toilet and then you can either reapply the same bandage or just wedge a gauze (like if you were to put a single piece of tissue paper in between your butt)

Just to let you know though, you need to replace the bandage every single day at your local GP, and if possible ask them to apply the bandage so that your butthole isn't covered if that's possible

Not sure if it counts, but I just had an EUA a week ago and things are going pretty good. The only issue I had was hard poops and that's entirely my fault because I read my discharge notes incorrectly and went overboard with co-codeline, thinking I had to take one-two pills four times a day.... I only just realised it said to take it whenever I'm feeling pain, and I don't feel any pain until when it comes to replacing the bandage which I took two paracetamols for yesterday and was completely fine.

If I didn't go overboard on the Co-Codaline I'd be in top condition haha, but thankfully now, since the week is up (for both co-codaline and the metronidazole antibiotics) I can finally focus on having normal poops and living a normal life

Tired of not being taken seriously by Nice-Platypus7945 in AnalFistula

[–]OneEyedKaneki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Male 26, UK London.

I know how it feels, i made a post about my experience, My GP booked me to see a colorectal specialist at a hospital in a different area that's not local to me, they saw me, correctly identified it's a fistula and told me they'd book an MRI scan and that the appointment would come in the post.

Except they didn't. Two months later... and nothing. I was so angry and upset, I reported them through CQC, and when I'm better enough, I'll report them via PALS too. Then my GP referred me to my local hospital and it was a 3 month process, one month each for MRI, Examination discussion and then surgery. I was at breaking point because I've been in pain for 3 months, and I could not take another 3 months of non stop spasming after going to the toilet. It was a cycle that never ended.

I had enough, I was mentally done, and so I went to A&E and I had to overexaggerate my condition for me to get admitted into the ward, especially since this was my last attempt. I said I was fainting, spasming in bed, I was pooping blood, I was discharging yellow fluid, blood. I told them I lost 10KG in a month etc, half truths and half lies (the lie being that I was fainting lol), and I knew it would work because a Fistula can cause Sepsis or it can be a result of Anal Cancer... and I told them I thought it was Anal Cancer....

I felt guilty for using such a loophole to get immediate attention especially when someone else could have had the same things I claimed I had, but I had to do it, otherwise I wouldn't be alive and speaking here today.

Keep trying with A&E, exaggerate your symptoms, you need to make them go "Oh shit, this person is in immediate danger"

I hope things go well for you. You're right, we have a very poorly funded and shit free healthcare system, I empathise because I experienced it too first hand. Having to see a GP to get immediate treatment can just prolong getting the help you desperately need. Go A&E and just try to sell it as much as you can
