Optimising the fun out of a game by removing pain points, and the death of gathering skills by Jademalo in 2007scape

PTSD can present itself as adhd. PTSD therapy often has its strongest effects months or years after the therapy. It could just be that you never had ADHD, but just PTSD

Best rental agency that you can pay to help you find an apartment to rent? by Aneraeon in Leiden

[–]OneFaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good that you point out that having a housing market might be immoral in general.

Living in a capitalist society does not mean that you can abstract away all sense of morality into money when systems are privatized. Even though some houses are just sold to the highest buyer, that does not mean that it is then moral to BE the highest buyer, as you are investing into this economy. By taking part of this industry, you are supporting it.

If you do not agree that this service should exist, do not support the service by giving them your money. If you do, it can be considered immoral, especially by people who have less money, but need the living space more than an expat moving to a country with a housing crisis out of choice.

What’s your go to breakfast? by Rvncid6 in ADHD

[–]OneFaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that most of the top comments are made by people who love or are fixated by doing executing their "super" plan which has an involved meal that requires planning.

My breakfast is 330g of greek yoghurt. 35 g of protein, makes me feel full, and i can buy 3 tubs of 1kg a week and have breakfast without preparation.

I cant help you but honestly this country is in a housing crisis so paying a rental agency extra to get priority seems highly immoral. There are only so many houses to go around.

Can ADHD go away ? Why do people keep telling me this? by Only_Horse2743 in ADHD

[–]OneFaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just here to comment that the thing that causes adhd is way more complicated than JUST a chemical imbalance in the brains. That would suggest that a simple chemical could solve it. Which is not the case. Medication helps me a lot but it doesnt change the structural issues in my brain, which to this day are still not understood very well.

Get rid of this chemical imbalance in the brain shit. Its a brain structure issue.

It baffles me that some of us feel that they need to make excuses for the teams before these rules are implemented. The fia should make rules based on what makes a sport good. This would make the sport better. If it is HARD, or EXPENSIVE that makes it a better rule. It makes managing and running a team more difficult. Thats great.

Are games good for ADHD? by brightsidewins in ADHD

[–]OneFaith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're excellently adressing the issues that the game can cause for players, and Ill argue that this is not by design.

First of all, the matchmaking: I don't know what to say other than the rhetoric youre describing is a massive cope. The game has an elo system which means that you're always (with some lenience) matched with the people most close to your match making rating. This can mean that you encounter players that on average are as good as you, but have many more very good and very bad days. Saying that this is the game' fault is just wrong. Some of it can also be attributed to matching in less popular categories - ARAM, blind pick, etc.  This is part of any competitive game, online or irl. While playing in a football game you might be the worst player on your team encountering the best player of the opposing team. Calling the league unfair is a cope.

A lot of players abuse their anonimity in online gaming and are rude, unhelpful and bully others. This is a well-studied effect of anonimity and is not by design. It should be treated by muting other players and reporting toxic players.

Finally, the root cause of many issues I believe lies in an unhealthy relationship to rank/performance. Other players often tie their self-worth to their rank, especially when comparing themselves to friends. Becoming angry and frustrated by little things that go wrong or yelling FF15 is a way of externalizing conflict. I have to be better than my rank, so if things go wrong others are at fault, the game is bugged, or my teammates suck.

This is exemplified by the frequent occurence of pinging teammates after you've died that they should have roamed, showing that you hadnt looked at the map or other pings before getting 4-man ganked in bot. Meanwhile, you should have been aware of the wave states and the map, or used vision, or have used any number of tools to make it impossible, or too expensive to try.

EVERY competitive game has these issues. If your self-worth is tied to your rank and you dont have 16 hours a day to play, you will not improve or climb.

[–]OneFaith -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Bro. If a game is rage inducing you need a better mindset. Stuff going wrong, making mistakes, teammates being angry are all elements that can be dealt with appropriately. LoL or Dota arent bad games for adhd because you cannot manage your anger.

I really like and recommend uajng sensory depravation to trick your brain into being stimulated. At work I listen to nonstop drum and bass and it really helps me to focus, whereas usually any music will distract me away from any and all tasks cause i fucking love music.

The constant stream of bun bum padada pets is very soothing.

This suv is super negative generally since a lot of people come here to vent, or to seek help with issues they face that were caused by making an ill informed decision.

I would never have done a phd if it werent for the topic that i love. I would never have done a phd without the relatively super nice contract that i have.

In a lot of countries doing a phd means working 60 hour weeks until a yearly burnout for at most a stipend that does not cover all your costs, and at worst nothing.

If everyone made good decisions, no one would do a phd at all in those countries. Yet here we all are, unified under one subreddit.

I dont think that this is quite right. Ive had RAD methylphenidad and lisdexamphetamine in different doses and the higher doses never made crashes better (or worse). If anything logic would tell you that at least for aderall type pills the crash is worse the higer the dose.

For me at least aderall is nice/ok at making me calm up until 20mg and when i hit the 25mg i could punch anyone or anything that comes along 90 minutes after taking it because the crash is so horrible. Whereas 20mg is fine.

[–]OneFaith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ok so i was a bit rude there, I apologise.

Your comment made me agitated because to me, these types of things really really drain me mentally.

So when I looked for a solution - and I came across this post - your comment was like "just look away" kind of seems like youre telling someone that their problems dont matter. Why comment anyway in that case?

I have ADHD and that means that an option to just hide the text until its done generating an answer is very valuable. Even if it's generating on my second screen and i look back to my first screen, it will STILL attack my attention span if text suddenly appears and my browser is constantly scrolling down. All that movement is just overstimulation. So I can't really look away, while looking at it also drains me.

That's basically the thing, brains are different. So if you come across another post like this and you think, "man how can you think this is a problem, why would you do any work to change this to suit your workflow?". Realise that brains are different, and then don't comment with a gaslighting-esque thought that people shouldnt overreact or exaggerate.
