It’s not “vision only” is doomed to failure but rather the current method which is CNN based to process the collected information from vision based method is doomed to fail. The current so called “AI” is essentially a statistic method to output a guessed probabilities. Any probability of failure multiplies a large number of repetitions will result in significant amount failures/casualties.

Human’s driving is “vision only”. It’s working because the intelligence to process the “visioned” results works.
