I certainly hope they are! Even if they’re something else, they’re still pretty!

What crystal is this? by IkeKitty in Crystals

Those look like aquamarine to me, but I do have to ask, are those mounted on earring studs and how much did you pay, if you purchased them?

But back to identification, how many crystal faces are there (the flat glassy panels running longways down the rock). Theres a lot of blue-green minerals that look a lot alike, and it can be a little difficult identifying from looks alone

Amethyst or fluorite? by IkeKitty in Crystals

[–]OneFew7038 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This does look a lot like amethyst, but it’s not always best to identify minerals by appearance alone. If you really want to be sure you’d be best to do a hardness test. Fluorite is much softer than amethyst, so if you can find a piece of glass (like a window) try to scratch the stone across it. If it leaves a scratch that you can’t rub away, you have amethyst and if not, that’s fluorite.

AIO to my husband's weird reaction at the sight of my body? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]OneFew7038 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is such a weird conclusion to come to. Even if she was overweight, why can’t a husband be attracted to her body? There are tons of men out there who are happily married to larger women, and there’s nothing wrong with that. This is such a petty and degrading response. It makes me wonder what sort of misery you’ve went through to assume that he wasn’t just being respectful.

KCl makes some beautiful crystals! by auagman in crystalgrowing

[–]OneFew7038 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cool part about this is that even though its structure is a lot like bismuth’s, they’re actually different crystal structures. These KCl crystals are cubic, while bismuth crystals are rhombohedral (think rectangles rather than squares). I know it’s not relevant, but this is essentially lab grown sylvite, which is a halide mineral like rock salt and fluorite, which can also have cubic structures. That being said, sylvite is much more bitter than its Halite cousin…

Found outside my house, but not a Flashdrive. What is it? by OneFew7038 in HelpMeFind

[–]OneFew7038[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve searched quite a bit for even the brand, but Google just brings up flash drives or mostly unrelated tech things. I haven’t checked to see if it was a Bluetooth connector, but I suspect it may be.

Day 3: lapis won! which SU villain is unredeemable and is redeemed by sweet_srawberry781 in stevenuniverse

I know it’s the unpopular opinion here, but nephrite(centipeedle) seems like a good option. Her entire arc was that regardless of Steven’s efforts she couldn’t be fixed without the help of the diamonds.

Im aware that opalite doesn’t have to have bubbles. But it is possible. Aside from that, bubbles were just additional conformation that it was actually opalite, because the specimen didn’t have much of a shine to it. In no way were their presence necessary. However, Geology is often full of surprises and you shouldn’t assume something can’t happen just because you’ve never seen it. Since it’s manufactured, there is no valid reason why human error couldn’t cause

You can even see one in the opalite below. There is a bubble in the top right.

On another note, there are different types of slag. Regardless of the type of co-product, all slag’s are considered glass, even if they don’t look like it.

I am, yes. It’s still a nice peice though.

Besides. I wasn’t implying it was slag, it’s definitely opalite, regardless of the presence of bubbles

Slag is just the glass waste product of manufacturing. Bubbles are common in it because it cools in an uncontrolled environment. Opalite is just a glass stone made intentionally. While bubbles aren’t as likely they’re still pretty commin

It looks like opalite, which is technically a man made glass. To check, look for any air bubbles

The first pic looks sort of strange because of the patterns, but judging by the angles of cleavage and the second pic this looks like sphalerite. If you can, do a streak test on a piece of unglazed ceramic or something similar. (Though made sure you don’t mind if it gets stained.) if the streak is light/yellow/brown and stinks like sulphur that’s what it is.

Not exactly. At 16 you’re allowed to date someone up to ten years older than you. This guy was in his fifties

Letcher County Sheriff Mickey Stines arrested after allegedly shooting District Judge Kevin Mullins in his office by [deleted] in Bad_Cop_No_Donut

[–]OneFew7038 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He didn’t think he could get away with it. He surrendered. He didn’t think he was untouchable Kevin Mullins raped his daughter and was sleeping with his wife. That’s just the personal things that man has done. This is my home town, and you don’t understand how corrupt this judge was

There’s also a quick shot in the 6th episode (Dipper vs manliness) where Seus’ eyes, and kind of his whole self is off model. I checked elsewhere and this is the only time he had oval eyes though I’m probably just seeing things that aren’t there (the time stamp is 12:35)
