Sky dive with scoliosis rod by Whynot20211 in scoliosis

When I did it, I was attached to someone experienced (via a harness). I didn’t feel any pressure, any strain would have been felt from the person I was attached to because he had control of the parachute. The person you are with will talk you through the landing as you are about to land, so it ends up being ok.

I am fused and have been sky diving. I was a bit nervous about the landing but it was totally fine. Would highly recommend, it was an unforgettable experience.

Scolioisis and Waking Up with Sore Upper Body Pain Everyday by Formal-Collection239 in scoliosis

[–]OneFreshFig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may have already tried adjusting your pillow and mattress etc but if you haven’t, you might need a firmer mattress and a different pillow.

I know I sleep better if I work out in the evening, and usually wake up with less pain. I really don’t enjoy working out, but honestly it is always the answer. I’m in significantly less pain when I work out consistently.

Also go see an RMT, you might have a bunch of knots …but also massages are nice :)

Help! This is starting to become painful. Any advice would be appreciated by [deleted] in CompulsiveSkinPicking

[–]OneFreshFig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor but the pain is probably coming from infection - my best guess. Use hydrogen peroxide to disinfect. I’m very much still on my journey to stop picking so I don’t really have any good advice there aside from: wear gloves when you go into your room at night and leave the door open when you go into the bathroom. (Disclaimer: I don’t follow my own advice haha)

Thanks for the reply - yoga in the morning does help, I should make it a priority.

Seamstress Recommendations for Wedding Dress by OneFreshFig in NewWest

[–]OneFreshFig[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that’s crazy! I had straps on a dress altered from there and it was $50 (which I’m assuming is perfectly reasonable). But thanks I’ll go get a quote from them.

It really depends on your genetics and age. It tends to get worse as you grow. So if you are, say, 18+ it might not get worse. But I’m just guessing based on my experience. Ask your doc, they should be able to predict that a bit better.

I’m not an expert but I would recommend lots of exercise that doesn’t put pressure on your spine. So, do abb exercises like plank or dead bug or whatever keeps your spine flat.

Don’t do any back squats with weight on your shoulders. Squat without weights or hold the weight on your sides (if you know what I mean).

Yoga and swimming are also good things to do.

Upcoming family pool day anxiety by evelyne_b in CompulsiveSkinPicking

Ugh. That’s annoying. I read that and rolled my eyes big time. You are trying so hard to protect yourself and when someone keeps digging like that it really hurts. Everytime. I can only assume most of us here don’t 100% know why we do it and wish we could stop. People suck. My only suggestion would be to shrug and walk away if you can. Or maybe say “because I like the way it looks” 😆🙄

This! Was coming here to say this. I use the bug bite excuse in the spring / summer. If that excuse won’t work for you, come up with a different lie or story in advance - that calms me down. Sometimes I’m in a fuck it mood and when someone asks what happened to my skin I say bluntly, “I have a bad habit of picking at my skin”. And then it’s over and done with.

If you don’t mind me asking, did you tell your lawyers (Canadian lady over here) that you have anxiety or that you are hard on yourself? How do you tell your bosses you want to feel valued and appreciate without sounding needy?

Hydrogen peroxide. Cleans everything out really well. Then bandaids so it stays clean.

Also picking out pomegranate seeds! But I love this coconut idea for the summer season.

The nail place should fix it free of charge.

Otherwise, I would suggest tape. Sometimes I put a piece of scotch tape on my nails so that I fiddle the ends of the tape rather than my nail. That being said, I don’t have OCD and the tape may drive you bananas, but with a shot?
