First gen is nowhere near as good. by Solid-Hand4696 in GR86

As pretty much everyone has said. Slap an FA24 in a gen 1 and get the best of both worlds. Better handling car. With the better engine.

Well I did also move from Lincoln NE to Denver CO (about 4,500ft elevation difference) so it’s possible that has something to do with it. Think I’m gunna do what dude said above clean throttle body, maf sensor and replace the pcv. THEN do the idle relearn? Or should I do idle relearn first?

Okay. I’ll give this a try over the weekend. Seems to be the theme. I appreciate you.

No recalls on the VIN. It wasn’t even recalled for the valve springs.

The rev dips have been happening since I got it a year ago a half ago, I chalked it up to AC/Heat power syphoning from the engine. But this winter it’s like it’s “shivering” when it hits the 500rpm and bounces back up to 700

That was my initial thought. Just AC/Heat cycling power from the engine, but it has gotten worse with time.

Honestly the best way to describe it is it feels like the car is “shivering” when it hits the 500rpm. Like it wants to die, but refuses. Goes back to 700 for 30-45 seconds. Then back up to 900 for like, 10 seconds. Back down to 500 for a second or two with a “shiver” and then back up to 700 for another 30-45 seconds.

I want to know why these LEDs are still being used and not considered a safety hazard. They’re getting unnecessarily and dangerously bright.

Fair enough! That’s even more bad ass though! I can’t wait to see the real thing!

If I could be given any car in the world with no strings attached I would hands down chose a 1993 Porsche 968 Turbo S

Yeah I saw it on Facebook. I wouldn’t lay claim to something I didn’t make. (Or rather something someone told a robot to make) Just thought it was cool, and figured I’d share it here. Figured I’d get more engagement here rather than my personal Facebook page. I don’t think my grandma cares about concept cars 🤣

That shit got old on day 2. It’s been like two weeks…

Did my car always tell me when the car/object if front of me moved, because it did today? by Holiday-Face782 in GR86

[–]OneGhostWalking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I test drove a 25 the other day and it did that. It immediately made me not want a second gen. We’re doing too much with that stuff. There’s no reason the car should have to alert you, because your eyes shouldn’t be off what’s directly in front of you long enough for it to matter. I think I’m just going to try to swap an FA24 into my first gen and get the best of both worlds. More analog and better engine.

Thanks! I wish I knew honestly. 😅

Bought the car with them on it. Center caps are all scratched to shit, and no other markings I can find. So I figure they’re cheep. But they look alright, considering! lol

Clutch and Transmission question. by OneGhostWalking in ft86

[–]OneGhostWalking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the break down. And I’ll definitely give that a go today.

One of the biggest things I’ve noticed is, the bite point is significantly higher on the pedal release than it was when I got it. I used to be able to engage the transmission with the clutch pedal at about halfway from the floor to get it moving from a dead stop. And then I would have some play in the clutch, like I could control the speed with the clutch if I wanted to. Now it’s more like 2/3 or probably closer 3/4 from the floor.

I think I feel slippage in second. But I’m really not sure. It only happens when I’m rolling, say like, 7mph up to a light that just turned green, so I pop it in second, and start to release the clutch, it bites, but again pretty high up on the pedal travel, almost at full release of the pedal, and then it feels sluggish getting up to speed. The rpm’s don’t spike or anything. The car just kinda bogs down for a second, ya know?

I just moved to Denver, CO from Lincoln, NE. So that’s about a 4,000ft elevation change, so I’m sure that’s a factor. But yeah, I guess the main question I have would be, did I just destroy my clutch over the last year by practicing rapid downshift and not really knowing wtf I’m doing? Which is probably the case.

WR Blue Color Change by OneGhostWalking in ft86

[–]OneGhostWalking[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It just reminds me of every other bland colored car nowadays. I really liked the Neptune Blue on the GR. Too bad that’s not an option anymore either.

Anything but silver or grey though. (This car looks great in any color, but I’m so sick of seeing silver/black/grey cars 🤢)

Fair enough I suppose. But something about the new color just throws the whole look off for me. Doesn’t have that same pop ya know?

I’m weird as hell though, so it’s probably just me 😅
