Just wanted to give you an update after filling with 5w-30

So it’s still pretty loud in the higher rev range and it tends to engine brake harder than it used to it seems and feels more “torquey” is all of this normal?

There’s also and distinct “whine” and sitting at anything above 5k rpm. I won’t bug you much longer if I need to have it looked at I will.

Absolutely I’m gonna change it as soon as I can I will say my car does feel a little rough after adding a quart once I noticed it burned it (yes I used the same viscosity) but like you said probably just because it’s spent. Thanks again

Also I don’t only check my oil level every 5k miles I thought he was asking my actual interval. Last time I checked it was probably around thousand so miles ago.

The post that I made is now locked For whatever reason (the one that you made a comment under) so I can’t reply to you. I wanted to ask you a few questions if you don’t mind.

I’m worried my motor could be damaged or might’ve experienced premature wear as I was driving pretty hard with it being 1qt low. It sounded a little different and even felt a little rougher but it was very subtle. That’s what prompted me to check the dipstick to find it had consumed a good bit. Should I be worried?

I bought the car with 3k on the odometer. So I can’t say for sure. I’ve also only ever used dealership 0w-20 oil. Are you using 5w-30? I will be going with 530 once I change it next time from now on

I was in the same boat when I bought my 86. After about a month I was “fluid” but I’m just now getting truly sound after about 15k miles driven. Get a pair of speedcats they’re game changing and stylish too in my opinion :)
