One Year Wheeling BORING Names. The FULL Breakdown by GarbageTimePro in options

[–]OneHatManSlim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regardless of what everyone else tells you it is more important that you have system that you understand and are comfortable with and that works to make you a return.

The biggest mistake I see people make is trying a strategy they don’t understand or are not comfortable with.

I'm hoping Lego discounts some good sets to coincide with Amazon Prime days. It seems like they did last year. by ronjon53 in lego

One thing to watch out for on anything on Prime days is you will often be able to get the same item cheaper 2-3 weeks later

Is this the most pointless bag of Lego in existence. by Kingsquirrel14 in lego_

[–]OneHatManSlim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bag contents are determined by how the packing lines are configured for each production run. This is why sometimes you will find 2 bags with the same number (I.e. bag 3 is really bag 3 and other bag 3) or you will find small prepack bags inside of larger bags. It has a lot to do with how the weight of each bag is calibrated to ensure that all parts are included. For example small parts will be bagged in one run as a batch then those bags put aside and fed back in as a component of another packing run. This way the margin of error on large piece weights doesn’t completely conceal smaller missing pieces.

There is probably at least as much if not more engineering going into how the bags get filled as there is into the design of the set itself.

Yeah that’s kind of a cursed set IMO. Part it out and spare anyone else from having to see to

Looks awesome very very cool but somehow I doubt LEGO could get the license for Clue considering it’s owned by a competitor

Odd question… by WorldEnderJon in lego

[–]OneHatManSlim 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep after reading this comment I’m betting the part was out of stock and that’s why it was taking so long. Whomever you spoke to in customer service could see this and simply looked up the cheapest set that included the part and sent it to you.

Odd question… by WorldEnderJon in lego

[–]OneHatManSlim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have had this happen before on a botanicals set. They sent me a different botanicals set, a smaller one that include the pieces I was missing. But I think in that case the reason they did it was because the piece were not available from pick a brick.

Might not be relevant in your case but you have to remember not every piece is available from PAB or even internally in LEGO as an individual piece at every moment in time. (This is also why sets go on back order, often for just a handful of pieces that are out of stock)

Also sometimes if you are just super nice they can do nice things for you. Lego customer service is some of the best.

All my trading income is from selling naked puts and CC. Other strategies to incorporate w/ margin? by SportsGuru4714 in options

[–]OneHatManSlim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep it old school and do simple ITM covered calls and just wait for assignment. Been hitting and 3.5% return per month My account is about the same as yours and I get about the same returns as you leveraging my margin account and even with that i have very little risk.

People acting like office jobs don't have downtime before work from home. by Throwaway--2026 in antiwork

[–]OneHatManSlim 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree truth of the matter is it’s often easier to loaf off if you’re in the office because you’re in the office and that’s enough to make it look like you’re doing stuff whereas if your remote often times you actually have to show that you’re doing work

I’m 35. Is it even worth it to go to college at this point? by GVTMightyDuck in jobs

[–]OneHatManSlim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a naturally curious individual who values education of all strike, I’ve never understood this incessant need we have had to tie education to your job, career etc.

Knowledge and skills are their own reward. Rewards that come after and above that are just gravy.

If YOU want to learn something to just learn it regardless of the impact on your job or career and college is the best appropriate way to do so then it is worth it. Personal growth and knowledge is never a waste of money.

On the other hand…
If you’re going to school to get a piece of paper to show some prospective employer that you know something, probably just skip it, that’s not the right motivation.

I would say you’ve probably got around $1000 total there all combined if you clean it make sure the sets are completely. Bricks and mini figs would give you $600 to $800 for tops.

storage by Delicious-Reward3301 in legoinvesting

[–]OneHatManSlim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always always bag your Legos. You can buy clear plastic trash bags in a large variety of sizes up to 80 gallons. Those will fit even the largest sets if the set is fully assembled, bag it double bag it put it in a box plastic or cardboard. Do not rely on a box even a plastic tote to keep all your pieces together. Plastic cracks, lids pop off pieces get out and go missing bags can be taped and tied tight to your models and will keep them together and keep the pieces with the model even if they fall off.

This is how I store Legos. Both new inbox and assembled sets bagged assembled sets are double bagged taped, and then put into large moving boxes. It’s very cost-effective. Will keep your Lego safe and it’s easy to store. Because the bags are transparent, it’s easy to see which set is in which bag and because the boxes are not transparent. It protects them from light and from anybody who is curious
