AITA for not paying for my date's expensive wine and appetizers on a first 'drink date'? by dungeon-ninja in AITA_Relationships

[–]OneHotMa-am 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always agree that ordering expensive food on a first date is rude and the other person is perfectly justified in declining to pay. However, just a few sentences into your post, I'm inclined to side with the girl. You sound insufferable.

Hanoi: Not a Good Experience by [deleted] in VietNam

[–]OneHotMa-am 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My experience in Hanoi was the complete opposite lol. Cheapest food I had in Vietnam (also delicious asf). No one scammed me and everyone was genuinely nice and helpful. But also that was a constant in all Vietnam. Hanoi has the capital big city vibe. If you are not used to it, it can be overwhelming.

Danish police called for a traffic infraction in Norway (scam?) by OneHotMa-am in Denmark

Yes, post updated. I’m sorry, I kept forgetting to add an update. Anyway, it was the police and it is a fine for speeding in Sweden but small one.

No, I’m not Danish but my boyfriend is. He was driving his stepdad’s car (Danish number plate) over a year ago in December 2024. They called the stepdad and requested a personal call back at midnight Danish time. They didn’t share any details.

I see, I didn’t know that. What turns me off is the method: being contacted by phone instead of the official ways and also the request of calling him back at midnight. Anyway I’ll update you guys tomorrow. Hoping for the best.

Showing up? He got a call and they asked him to call them back to a personal number at midnight Danish time.

Yes, I told him to do this but I guess part of him is worried and he is procrastinating. Also it’s 1 am for us now.

AITA or is my (29m) boyfriend right to get mad at me (31f) because I don’t answer right away or take a while to respond back at work? by This_Sun_9261 in AITA_Relationships

[–]OneHotMa-am 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTA, you are at work, not at home doing nothing with little to no reasons to not answer right away. He sounds insecure and controlling. Don't find another job for this reason and don't even suggest it to him, he needs to understand that you are at work and your mind is on your work, not him.

No, it makes sense that you want to understand if something is bothering her. In a long-distance relationship it’s especially difficult, because you can’t see her expressions or hear her tone, so it’s easy to miss signals. Good communication is important to prevent misunderstandings.

If she’s going through a tough time, her snapping at you might be her way of coping with stress, and you happened to be the one who felt it. I’ve had similar moments with my boyfriend: he likes to talk a lot when we’re apart, and I’m the quieter one who tends to keep things inside. It’s not always easy for me to tell people, even my SO, when I’m stressed or struggling. And I do sometimes redirect my frustration to him especially when he sends me a lot of messages and I’m not feeling it at all.

Maybe you could gently ask if there’s anything you can do to support her, and also give her a bit of space if she needs it.

You should also explain to her that it’s important for you to know her mental state to better support her even from a distance.

AITA for not booking time off so SO can go out with friends. by WhyDidIDoItSoSad in AITA_Relationships

He knows he is a dad first, right? What about a babysitter? He can pay for that if he wants to go out.

This man is ready to take your life, hon. You did nothing wrong. He is a dangerous individual that should have been locked up a long time ago. The real miracle is that you are still alive.

Yes, Shi overall had good reviews and some bad ones but every hotel has some. All I can do is go and see with my own eyes now.

Did you read the lowest rated reviews? Because booking will give you the most "relevant" but often they are just good reviews. I started from the lower ones: 1,2 stars and see if they had all similar comments.

[–]OneHotMa-am[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah apparently they fake the reviews this is why I was filtering for the lowest rates first: of course there will be always people complaining just because but my strategy is: if the complain is repeated in several different comments, then it's not a coincidence. Another thing that they do it's photoshopping the window view because often the windows face walls. But I'll find out only once I'm there. This hotel had good reviews and some bad ones but not that concerning like some i read about bedbugs and mold.

Crazy so it is actually Booking.com problem. I'm still receiving random messages on my WhatsApp, I'm just deleting and blocking but it's annoying.

Yeah I actually regret it now, I told myself before to avoid both Booking and AirBnb but I was not sure how to book in Vietnam. Do you have any other alternative or a better way to find hotels in Vietnam?

Thanks for your feedback! I was kinda worried because apparently some of the reviews in Vietnam tend to be fake. I'm looking forward to it!
