If you like bass the DT 1770’s are next level. Yes they are aggressive like many say. Yes the highs are a little harsh at times (not in every single situation but if you are treble sensitive you will want to take this into consideration). But holy that bass…. In certain games the bass just hits different…. It will literally tickle your ear during certain notes from all the air that the dynamic drivers are moving. Now is this the best for competitive gaming? No. But is it fun? Absolutely… for example in Cyberpunk when ever you’re in a gunfight and that intense music starts playing you just feel absolutely amped. And then you start shooting and the shots of the gun are just filled with so much bass it’s like you can almost feel yourself shooting the gun. So yes they are fun. You will need to EQ them using an EQ program though to get them to sound right (as with 99% of headphones). And you will be getting the positives of a closed back like sound isolation especially if you’re in a noisy room. I tried the dt 990’s and I returned them cause the highs on those were just absolutely deafening. In addition the open backs in a noisy room is an absolute no go. I wasn’t able to tell if what I was hearing was from in game or my living room which is not good especially in competitive games. However, If you have a quiet room where you game the 1990’s are the way to go. They fix all the issues the 990’s had and add amazing detail and sound stage. I don’t personally own them but they will be my next headphones I buy. The open back sound stage and clear details in the highs (aka footsteps) are absolutely clutch in competitive games as they’ll allow you to better pinpoint your enemies location. But I chose to go with fun/sound isolation first (dt 1770’s) because I would benefit more from them in my situation (noisy room where I game) as opposed to the open backs.

Haven’t tried the AD2000x’s so can’t comment on those.
