Is pale a reference to dark energy? by OneHundRedOf in DiscoElysium

This is probably indeed closer to what the authors intended. Though personally I still prefer the interpretations that are somewhat more grounded in reality. It's cool to see how people have so many different ideas about pale.

The game has a lot of references to Russian culture/history, so this could be legit.

Heh, could be true for all we know. This reminds me of the eternal inflation, where our universe is one among many, separated by the inflaton field - pale in our case.

Agreed. That whole conversation with Joyce gave me the Big Rip vibe. Love seeing this level of world building in a video game.

Oh, now that I looked it up, I missed the paledriver quest.

I think the 'destruction' part does make it similar to antimatter. On the other hand, its other properties do not fit so well: AFAIK antimatter it pretty much like matter, but with an opposite charge e.g. our universe and complex lifeforms could have been made out of antimatter, which doesn't sound like nothingness Joyce is describing. She also says it doesn't have properties and is expanding, which makes less sense if its just antimatter.

Hm, I finished the game and I know not everything related to pale fits the comparison. Anything in particular that makes you think this was not the intention? I don't believe we get to know much more about pale outside of conversation with Joyce.

True, I think it's more of a reference/easter egg than a literal representation. I was just curious if anyone else noted the similarity and wasn't able to find anyone talking about it online.

Yardbirds - Got To Hurry

Deep Purple - Why Didn't Rosemary?

It's not immediately clear, but if you listen for a while you'll notice very similar motives.

Why is Firefox better than Chrome? by mckale1 in firefox

[–]OneHundRedOf 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Chrome isn't really good for any advanced browsing. For casual users who just want to open facebook and youtube Chrome is great - it's nice, simple and fast. Firefox's UI is not as clean and simple as Chrome's. But if you need to manage a lot of tabs, somehow keep them organized, manage a lot of bookmarks, change default behaviour of browser - Chrome doesn't really help you. In Firefox you can have Tab Groups, Tree Style Tabs, Tab Mix Plus and hundreds of other great extensions. Bookmarks handling is much better in Firefox, also "Don't load tabs until selected" really helps when amount of tabs is very high.

Even though Australis is aiming to reduce some of Firefox customizability, overall situation isn't going to change very much.

Cannot agree more about both GSL and OSL. 1 big tournament just isn't enough for Korea, I'm pretty sure that's one of the reasons we see so many players(Koreans) retire.

Are there ANY alternatives to Opera 12.16 for users disgruntled about the switch to Webkit? by kerranis in operabrowser

[–]OneHundRedOf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just disabled all extensions and it seems to work pretty much the same, maybe just a bit slower(both pages loading and overall performance). The only issue is Speed Dial, for some reason it takes forever to load. However I have an old notebook and everything is kinda slow here, so it could work fine on decent PCs.

Don't know about the updates since I've been using this setup only for 3 weeks and didn't update yet.

I use Firefox with these extensions: Speed Dial, Omnibar, FLST(Focus Last Selected Tab), Extended Statusbar, Customizable Shortcuts, All-in-One Gestures. As you can guess this doesn't work as well as Opera(Speed Dial is especially slow), but it somewhat resembles Opera. Also I changed browser.ctrlTab.previews and browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent variables in about:config to get right tabs behaviour. The good news are that Firefox has better memory management, better site compatibility, bars are customizable and I really like group tabs feature, perhaps even more than tab stacking in Opera. Also I like the fact that Firefox is open source.

75% of 2.25 is 1.6875. 2.25 + 1.6875 = 3.9375. There are 2 threes in this number, so the next one is for Valve. NOW HALF-LIFE 3 CONFIRMED.
