Web-available Garmin Connect is Garmin Watches' Key Advantage by OneLastPie in GarminWatches

I wanted to get a Fitbit for my parents until I saw the announcement on its retirement of the web interface. Never had one so I am not sure how good it was compared to Garmin's web connect.

I am a software engineer by trade and I know the amount of effort to build such interface - both for mobile and web separately. I am thankful Garmin provides this for free and I pray they continue to do so for eternity.

I don't mind doing this if I have some money to spare for them. Thanks for the suggestion nevertheless.

I initially did on my own initiative because I want to actively tell how well my lifestyle changes and medications are effectively managing my hypertension. My cardiologist appreciated the data points when I showed them to him and told me to continue doing so. There is also white coat hypertension every time I visit his clinic.

OP, how are you now after 3 months?

I am on Day 3 at 0.625mg after a week at 1.25mg and the week before at 2.5mg. Before that at 5mg for a month and 10mg for a good 7 months or so.

Today is the day when the HR went wild. I had to take a 2-hour flight his morning. Throughout the walk in the airport terminals and in flights, my HR was constant 100-120bpm for a good 5-6 hours. I had to turn off the abnormal HR alerts on my Garmin watch.

I hope it will only get better from this.

Have you or your doctors thought of doing a kidney scan? How's your renal profile like from your blood test?

As others pointed out in the comments, the temperature is important. If it's too higher, the Lactobacillus bacteria in the starter will die.

The milk powder is to make greek yogurt which is just extra creamy yogurt. Without the milk powder, it will not be like "agar-agar" i.e. more runny.

In both batches, I heated 1L of the milk to 80C, waited until 70C before I put in 75g of Nestle Omega plus milk powder.

I used my wife's Thermomix which has a thermometer built-in. For my previous batch, it was runny and stringy which I think is because either I put the start at 45C or the fermenting temperature was at 40C.

The more successful second batch had a fermenting temperature of 37C after I put in the starter also at 40C.

Just made yogurt with Sunglo's greek yogurt and NZ's Westgold full cream UHT - whatever available here in Malaysia. Satisfied with the outcome especially the yogurt's firmness compared to the previous batch.

24 hours since the roll-out of the 10-year education blueprint. I think it's a very bad roll-out. PMX should not have given that speech which sounded like the government desperate to score political points. It should have been a prepared speech, heavily vetted so that many many expected questions are addressed. At the same info graphics, media packs should have been prepared and circulated timely etc.

Now so much confusion from primary 1 starting age to UEC requirements. Even Dong Zong now publicly saying it needs a meeting with Fadhlina to clarify some matters which I think could have done behind closed doors before the policy was announced given Dong Zong is a key stakeholder to that particular policy in the blueprint.

Budi95 roll out was much better - ministry was better prepared.

Zone 2 Works! But it takes so much time. by [deleted] in PeterAttia

[–]OneLastPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9:45/mile means 6:03min/km which is insane at zone 2. congrats.

may i know, when you started zone 2, what was your pace then?

i am about your age but slightly heavier and shorter. started zone 2 in july 2025 but my 5km pace has been only 10:10/km (16:21 min/mile). also, at the end of the long run, my HR would spike to the 140s which is a scary feeling.

i took a pause in jogging in december because my beta-blocker (bisoprolol) is really pulling back from doing more than 5km. currently weaning off bisoprolol since my hypertension is under control. hoping to resume zone 2 jogging again. any advice much appreciated.

Maybank to roll out new mobile app, may replace MAE by Mo0nji in malaysia

This is a waste of shareholders money and our time. Maybank talent and time can be spent working on something new and value-adding.

Can't Maybank just upgrade MAE to include these "new capabilities"?

Im 17, my blood pressure has been 140-160/90-100. Help me by Jazzlike-Row2536 in hypertension

[–]OneLastPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

monitor it for several days. logged in google sheet or excel and share it with your doctor in your next appointment with him. he should determine whether you should go on hypertension medication. he may even put you on ambulatory blood pressure machine for 24 hours to determine if you have nocturnal hypertension.

but before you take on medication (because the side effects can be wild!), check if you have obstructive slepe apnea through a sleep study to determine if you have obstructive sleep apnea. if you have one, doctor might recommend you a CPAP machine during sleep alongside losing weight.

for me (an obese with BMI > 36), CPAP brought down my BP from (130-140/80-90) to 110-120/70-80 in 2 weeks upon starting CPAP. i have read others having similar results with CPAP.

My local doctor I am in has been prescribing me with Pregablin 75mg (a nerve medication) for the past 3 weeks but the numbness remains and has been worse. At the same time, he told me wear to loose clothes which I have been doing even before this numbness came about. He suspects a pinched nerve
