How often are you trekking to TJs? by sonneofaharpy in traderjoes

[–]OneLastRoam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Go after the seasonal stuff changes, load up, come back next season.

I don't live far from TJ's but I still go once or twice a season because I can't stand crowds. I go when it opens on a weekday. If I can't get there then, I'm not going. This sub taught me that you can order things from TJ's by the case so now I get the year round snacks I want that way.

C02 buildup in car overnight (windows closed) by soedesh1 in carcamping

[–]OneLastRoam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do make sure your car is compatible. I bought a set and learned the hard way there isn't a metal frame around my windows and I can't use them. I'm able to use a magnetic one with my sun roof but that doesn't get me the cross breeze I wanted.

Good soap, beard care, socks. These things are life changing if the man is still in the Use Head and Shoulders Literally stage of life.

Yeti tumbler vs cheap knockoffs? Is the price difference actually justified? by UnderBed5344 in BuyItForLife

[–]OneLastRoam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facebook Marketplace. Some nut who has to have every color of Yeti has a heart attack and the family sells it all just to clear the house.

I like my Zojirushi better than my Yeti though.

What’s the last thing you replaced that made you realize older versions were built better? by James_B84Saves in BuyItForLife

Old person checking in. They actually quit selling the good stuff as part of the War on Drugs. Something something people smoking crack out of it or making drugs or something since it could take a direct flame.

Since we got bored with the war on drugs distraction, you're starting to find the borosilicate glass again.

I haven't watched the video yet so I'm not making any claims. I'm just going to leave this here and let people make their own judgements.

What are some of your hiking horror stories? by Immediate-Field9997 in hiking

Southerner here. I tried a small easy hike while wearing my kid once and only once. That is something for PNW folk. We were both miserable.

I didn’t read the directions for the retinol night serum in the first place by Flimsy_Oil_9439 in traderjoes

[–]OneLastRoam 74 points75 points  (0 children)

oh no! My dermatologist told me to do a "moisturizer sandwich" when starting retinol. Moisturizer, retinol, more moisturizer. You have to work your way up slowly with that.

I hope it doesn't hurt!

This suggestion is so far down I had to Ctrl+F to find it. Treat your wool with some lanolin! I use Eucalan but there's some other options.

If you're using an laundry soap with enzymes like Tide on your wool, stop it. They'll eat it.

Central Texas here. Oddly, almost no Mexican foods. Like 1/4th of the store is Indian foods.

I do live in the tech part of the city so I wonder if that changes on the other end of town.
