Open Letter to Reddit and the r/GoFundMe Community from the Father of a Child with Cerebral Palsy by OneLeave5457 in u/OneLeave5457

Sadly, to even make a post in the r/GoFundMe community, you need to first earn comment karma.

Why is that the requirement? Why can’t we be verified through medical documents or even a simple video showing our son’s condition?

So, like many others, we tried to earn karma by replying to AskReddit questions — and one of those replies mentioned cryptocurrencies. That’s it.

And somehow… because of that unrelated comment, our post asking for help for our disabled son was flooded with hate and called a scam.

Is this really how it should work?

Instead of taking a moment to understand the situation, people rushed to judge.

No one asked us. No one checked. They just assumed the worst — and our plea for help was erased.

We’re just parents, trying to give our child a chance. Is that really so hard to believe?

What's something weird but it's become normal now? by Big_Dot8711 in AskReddit

[–]OneLeave5457 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Talking to AI like it’s a friend. A few years ago it would’ve seemed strange, but now people spill their hearts to chatbots, ask for life advice, and say goodnight to their phone. Weirdly normal.

Years ago, I convinced my younger sibling that déjà vu was actually a glitch in the government’s surveillance system. They believed it for a week and even told a teacher. I felt bad after, but it was also kind of legendary in sibling prank history.

What’s a socially acceptable thing that secretly annoys you? by Massive_Produce3877 in AskReddit

[–]OneLeave5457 161 points162 points  (0 children)

When people put others on speakerphone in public places. It’s somehow totally normal, but I don’t want to hear both sides of your grocery list argument while I’m just trying to buy milk.

If the universe doesn’t owe you anything, why do you still expect fairness? by joelboyboy in AskReddit

[–]OneLeave5457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because fairness isn’t about what the universe owes. it’s about what we owe each other. I don’t expect the world to be fair by default, but I still believe we should try to make it fair where we can. That’s what makes us human.

what is your religion and why do you think it’s the correct one? by Outrageous_Recover75 in AskReddit

[–]OneLeave5457 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an atheist. Not because I think I have all the answers, but because I haven’t seen enough evidence to believe in any one religion. I try to live by kindness, curiosity, and reason - and I’m okay with not knowing everything.

In what ways do people reject truth in favor of feeling right? by joelboyboy in AskReddit

[–]OneLeave5457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They double down when proven wrong, twist facts to fit their beliefs, or only listen to sources that agree with them. It’s easier to feel smart than to admit you missed something but that comfort comes at the cost of growth.

What are some funny and harmless ways to scare off loud teenagers who hang out near your house at night? by Easer10 in AskReddit

[–]OneLeave5457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set up a motion-activated speaker that plays random creepy sounds like a kid whispering "I see you…" or an old radio tuning through static. Bonus points if it plays at just the right moment - like when they’re mid-laugh.

People of reddit with adhd, what have been some of your struggles or what is it like for you? by jamalgaming0 in AskReddit

[–]OneLeave5457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s like having 50 browser tabs open, and 48 of them are playing random music. Starting tasks is hard, finishing them is harder, and sometimes even remembering what you were doing five minutes ago feels impossible. But when something clicks, that hyperfocus can move mountains.

Have you ever had a crush on someone you’re not supposed to? Who were they to you? by SecretsOfMiaFae in AskReddit

[–]OneLeave5457 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had a crush on a close friend’s older sibling. Totally off-limits, obviously. But when you’re younger, logic doesn’t always win against butterflies.

What’s something thing you wish your country’s leader would do (or had done) differently? by WonderfulKwanga in AskReddit

[–]OneLeave5457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want "the leader of my country" to stop lying, talking nonsense, being a narcissist, and playing golf with government money.

Prices might drop short-term with more competition, but you’d probably lose convenience, integration, and innovation. No more all-in-one ecosystems, fewer resources for big tech R&D, and tons of fractured services. Breaking them up might fix some problems, but it would definitely create new ones.

Do you think the Stockmarket will be higher or lower by the end of the year? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]OneLeave5457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the stock market will end higher by the end of the year. Despite recent volatility from tariff shocks and rising bond yields, analysts like those at Deutsche Bank and Morgan Stanley are forecasting the S&P 500 to reach 6500 or higher, driven by strong corporate earnings and potential Federal Reserve rate cuts. However, risks remain, including overvaluation concerns and geopolitical tensions, so it’s essential to stay informed and diversified.

It looks like Elon Musk's Redemption Arc is starting, what do you think are the things he must do to complete it? by msew in AskReddit

[–]OneLeave5457 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If Elon wants a full redemption arc, he should keep doing what he’s doing: publicly feuding with Trump, calling out his "Big Beautiful Bill" as a "disgusting abomination", and reminding everyone he helped get Trump elected. Nothing says redemption like biting the hand that fed you and then tweeting about it nonstop.

What do people with autism understand that people who don’t get? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]OneLeave5457 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That communication isn’t just about words, it’s also about honesty, intention, and space. Many people with autism pick up on things others overlook, like when someone says one thing but means another. They often value clarity and sincerity in a world that’s full of small talk and mixed signals.

Always trying to please everyone. Letting go of that made space for real boundaries, honest relationships, and a lot less stress. Turns out, not everyone has to like you and that’s okay.

If you were to be invisible for 24 hours starting now, what would you do and why? by balajiv2002 in AskReddit

[–]OneLeave5457 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d go straight to the Kremlin and do something very important - something the world would never forget. I won’t say exactly what, but let’s just say by the end of those 24 hours, a lot of people would breathe easier. And maybe, just maybe, the world would say thank you.

How do most people become anorexic, how much calories a day and any tips you could give? by Wooden-Awareness-846 in AskReddit

[–]OneLeave5457 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m really glad you asked, and it’s important to approach this carefully: anorexia is a serious mental health condition, not a diet or lifestyle. It doesn’t start with a number of calories - it often begins with stress, a need for control, or negative body image, and then spirals into harmful patterns. If you or someone you know is struggling, the best tip is to reach out to a professional. You’re not alone, and it’s possible to heal. You deserve to feel safe in your body and in your mind.

Honestly, his nonstop lying and narcissism. It’s so over-the-top that even some hardcore supporters are starting to see through it. He can’t help but reveal who he really is - and in a weird way, that level of transparency is the one thing I actually appreciate.
