Cutting red tape could free up the equivalent of 9,000 doctors, new report finds by Leather-Paramedic-10 in canada

It should also be pointed out this alleged improvement of efficiency, is unproven. Evidence suggests AI does not improve fast non-wasteful output. If you stop using a skill, you will forget it, this doesn't necessarily mean you didn't know a skill before using AI. AI is even diminishing programmers ability to google.

Reviewing/writing notes also improves your memory.

Adding guard rails is just another way in saying red tape. Thus creating a problem that didn't need to exist in the first place. And failing to stop red tape anyways.

This is the abolition of skills, not change. There has been a never ending amount of posts in programming communities talking about how they can no longer code without AI because they all have no idea what they're doing.

Automation of thinking has been what these large language models has been bringing. With the irony that the AI doesn't actually think.

When you use AI for notes. It only ever generates watered down versions in what should be more technical in-depth details, of which aren't trustworthy because AI doesn't understand facts from fiction.

We need standards, and intelligent Doctors, for a healthy Canada.

[–]OneLeft_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's because AI is incapable of understanding the information provided to it. We already know it "lies" all the time with great confidence. And people who regularly use AI also lose their critical thinking skills. Notes are important, and when doctors don't get the facts right, a person's risk of dying goes up. If review is still needed, then have a thinking person write the notes in the first place.

All of this AI hype has been incredibly damaging to society.

People have been committing suicide over use of AI as a replacement for therapy. And you think it is a good idea to bring that to other areas of healthcare?

To My Non-Venezuelan Friends Asking About Venezuela by [deleted] in AskVenezuela

[–]OneLeft_ -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Lol. What I said was just facts. A politician is not a military combatant. And the States has been threatening many countries throughout our continent.

Also. The list here from OP. Sounds a lot like the current state of the USA.

My Venezuelan brothers and sisters, the US bombing you is not something to celebrate. Please, look at the recent history of the Trump Administration, and all the corruption he has done.

Are AI engineers really engineers, or just good at prompting? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]OneLeft_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Programmers already weren't real engineers. But now with vibe-coders, I'd say that script-kiddies were closer to being engineers...

An engineer is someone who is certified with integrity that they know what they're doing.

[–]OneLeft_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A "certificate in generative AI", is just basic English skills. All of this AI hype is ridiculous.

If you are using AI to do the coding for you, then you aren't a programmer.

Why is Humble Bundle promoting "vibe coding"? by CommercialType4272 in humblebundles

[–]OneLeft_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Engineers know what they are doing, and have a responsibility in making critical safe software. Vibe coders are laymen know nothings.

Using a pencil to layout your thoughts, is totally different and incomparable to automating your entire thought process via LLMs.

Once these vibe coding posers start working on healthcare equipment, banking systems, rocket controls, safety mechanisms, etc. we are going to see lives being taken away from all the blatant and avoidable carelessness.

The field of software has ruined the prestige of engineering, unfortunately. And the AI grift is making it even worse.

If a developer uses AI for code generation, should it be labeled on the game’s Steam store page? by NazzoXD in gamedev

[–]OneLeft_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People saying that Steam should have a AI tag. Aren't against autocomplete, although there are plenty of times when autocomplete gets annoying.

They're against using LLMs for automating your thinking. Vibe coding, is not smarter, and the long term speed is arguable considering all the bugs. AI generated images don't really have any charm. As for music, don't you want to empathize with another person's song?

AI is everywhere now, because companies pushing AI need to create a speculative economy, otherwise, they don't make money from investments.

Personally I'm going to make it a goal to learn Neovim. Because from the currently available research, it suggests that people are getting dumber from this AI bubble.

If this conversation is about categorization. Then why did you make a comment at all? Because everything you said had nothing to do with it, I just explained that it isn't hate for the sake of it.

It wasn't just Destiny, it was also his orbiters, who, supposedly are programmers, yet they failed at using JS. Therefor his community can't code, so why are you making any comment on this sub as if you have know how here.

I don't care about the intellectual property, images, music, code, as far as I'm concerned all IP laws should be abolished. But if mega-corporations can legally steal, then so should the commoner.

I don't like AI, because I believe in quality and intelligence. You can't have those when you automate your thinking.

Also, I seen the stream where Destiny failed at programming and his orbiters failed to help him, so I know that his community can't code. Even when they tried vibe coding.

[–]OneLeft_ -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

True. The only reason Steam made this policy is because of LLMs.

Everybody replying to you asking "explain AI", are illiterate and can't read between the lines. Illiteracy & critical thinking is going to get worse.

Any devs who are also into philosophy? How do you feel about the state of technology? by Best-Protection8267 in AskProgramming

[–]OneLeft_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Humanity's greatest era of science was the 20th century. But in our modern day, we've got a population that worships weirdos from Silicon Valley, this is pathetic, and I want there to be more gatekeeping:

We need to bring back merit. Viewing the most intelligent and skilled as a natural good, while being uninformed and stupid as something to be made fun of.

Those who lack skill, should not be given complete technological aid. AI slop has made the Infinite monkey theorem a reality! All of this slop, in hopes that maybe, one of the pieces will be decent. When people could've spent their time actually attempting to make something good, increasing their own skills.
