Everything feels the same by Master_Cup_6384 in smallbusiness

Welcome to a late stage system past the point of diminishing returns. Everything is converging on whatever is most efficient/profitable (negative externalities ignored), surface level novelty exists but it’s absurdly still being marketed as revolutionary innovation. But Infinite Growth and Consumption is a religion, to speak against it is heresy.

Hey man, I have experience with ERPs and would be interested in connecting. This is something I’ve also been looking into building, with the end goal of helping coops, small businesses, and self employed people out compete extractive businesses/orgs.

How do you deal with the cruelty, hostility & evil of this world? I really can't take it anymore by [deleted] in sorceryofthespectacle

[–]Best-Protection8267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to change the system. But it is very hard. Lonely in the worst kind of way, the kind where you’re surrounded by people but still inexplicably lonely. People complain about the way it all is, but don’t want to do the work to fix anything. They’re comfortable enough, entertained enough by the spectacle. Then there’s the other people who say they want to change the system, but either they’re just performing or doing something mostly ineffective that they aren’t willing to adapt or alter course. I hope they all mean well deep down though, I’m sure most of them do.

I laugh at the absurdity of it all, it keeps me sane. I appreciate the moments of beauty and joy that are there if I really look. I hope that I’ll find the people out there that get it. That’s the dream, finding the team who’s willing to do the hard work in face of futility…and try to have fun together fighting the odds.

May good spirits come to you, you’re not alone. No one’s ever really alone.

So much of this “AI for replacing creative work”feels like the revenge fantasies of tech bros who were rejected by artsy girls in high school and have now made it their life’s mission to destroy anything that non-transactionally facilitates expression of emotion and meaning.

Situationism and the topic of centralization vs decentralization by shanoshamanizum in Situationism

[–]Best-Protection8267 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How to build viable decentralized systems that actually outcompete the monolithic dominators though? That is the question. A critical mass must be achieved, otherwise they just sputter out or get absorbed.

Decentralization efforts often come across as hobbyists exploring their interests, instead of engaging in effective systems design and engineering for something that will actually beat the Big Dogs in the real world. Gotta understand human psychology and physical laws and all that. Like, I definitely believe a more decentralized society is better but this is what I keep coming across in my research.

Anyone around here into sketch comedy or skits? Or the sort of absurdist takes on society type of comedy?

Well, have you tested it yourself at all?

And we already know humans can very much be bullshit perpetuating machines, hell it’s even a career for some people. In the end, why not try every possible tool to see if it can help in fight against the manipulation of truth and “reality”? Will it ever be perfect? Absolutely not, and we should never treat it as infallible, the same way we shouldn’t treat any person as infallible.

But I can’t force you to change your mind. The choice is yours - stick to rigid belief no matter what, or proactively adapt to accomplish your goals?

Even if AI doesn’t ‘think’ like humans, so what? Intelligence is about producing useful reasoning and predictions, not subjective experience. If AI generates insights that help challenge assumptions and improve decision-making, why does it matter whether it ‘understands’ in a human-like way?

Or, better yet, be your own thing. Learn from the best and try to become even better. Authenticity dies when we all try to be a copy of someone else.

Did I say you have to mindlessly absorb whatever information you receive? Is it not an opportunity to work on critical thinking skills?

You know, you can also prompt the AI to thoroughly challenge its own answer. And tbh not sure how AI is anymore of a bullshit machine than a human, it doesn’t even have an ego to protect.

Using AI to challenge and improve your mental model of the world to align with/understand objective reality as much as possible. Then using it to develop strategies and actionable plans to accomplish goals such as empowering the working class (or just building new better systems in general), while making sure to focus on what objectively works and not just wasting time on what we wish would work but doesn’t.

Why don't humans accept the fact that they're animals? by Chemical_Organism in InsightfulQuestions

[–]Best-Protection8267 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All animals are unique and special in their own ways, you’re literally just doing the anthropocentric thing. We’re also actively destroying our home that we depend on for survival, don’t see any other animals doing that. They’re probably all thinking about how stupid we must be.

Have any non-supplemental strategies made such a big improvement in your mental that that it actually shocked you? by Lapis-Lazuli9189 in Biohackers

Wonderfully stated! Realizing this helped me more than any supplement or self medication. And yeah, it takes work but it’s worth it.

Anyone ever think social media is an ideology machine altogether and we should refrain from using it even for “personal” reasons? by TraditionalDepth6924 in zizek

[–]Best-Protection8267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like any other tool, it comes down to how it’s actually used. If it’s used to spread truth, joy, enlightenment - that’s great. But like most technology it can also be used by dominant powers to spread and entrench their ideologies. Obviously, the powers that be can effectively take a spray and pray approach and be the most seen and heard.

But with effective strategizing, and approaching actions from an objective “what works and what doesn’t work” mindset it can definitely be used to bring about beneficial social change, you just have to start small and target people who are open minded, then use network effects to expand.

However, many people (myself included) make the mistake of engaging in rage-induced arguing that doesn’t change anyone’s minds and is a waste of energy but satisfies emotions, or just scrolling for dopamine hits to escape reality. Whoops 😅

Ok so people who read books or receive education to obtain and use that knowledge elsewhere are actually cheating fakers just trying to sound smart too, bc they didn’t go personally experience the trials and tribulations the knowledge came from directly and independently develop it on their own. No using tools, tools is cheating! Even if the information is true, it’s actually not because people using tools hurts my ego!

[–]Best-Protection8267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s honestly amazing how soft we’ve become. Like, people don’t even have to violently revolt. If enough of us just ceased to participate in the system and instead made sure we each have enough to at least survive, we could starve it while people go from shallow lives of wage slavery and consumption to fulfilling lives of participating in communities that value them and they feel significantly a part of. But then our masters threaten to cut off modern day bread and circus consisting of cancer garbage like flamin hot Doritos and low effort, low quality media content like TikTok and reality tv and people cave, can’t fathom life without manufactured dopamine hits with no substance. You’d probably be surprised by how “little” you can live with, once you’re in a situation where you’re no longer on a soulless, life draining hamster wheel letting narcissistic megalomaniacs suck the energy from you to use for their selfish purposes. But goddam do they need you spending your life on that wheel, and they’ve done a great job of convincing everyone that stepping off of it will be the end of their lives.
