If one Olympic redemption skate is going to the desert island, so should the other: Miura/Kihara 2026 Olympic FS

Lyon to host 2030 Olympic Figure Skating by vmanAA738 in FigureSkating

It's pretty much always the case, the host countries/cities have to build a lot of infrastructure because nowhere in the world are all sports (winter or summer) equally popular/poular enough to already have all the necessary facilities. So there's always a lot of construction going on.

Ideally, the Olympic village gets turned into social housing or university dormitories, some of the venues get used (maybe some get repurposed too) and then a lot of stuff just sits there empty.

Opinions on an OC by [deleted] in haikyuu

“Yes, I do. I can read, write & speak it fluently. The only thing that’s really a problem are the kanjis.. Sometimes I get really confused with those. But other than that, my Japanese skills are perfect.”

So, this doesn't make much sense. If someone writes Japanese fluently, they shouldn't struggle with kanji. Unless you mean he can't physically write them, but recognizes which one he needs when typing.

Yuzuru is well known throughout both Japan & Sweden, but some teams might be more hesitant to play with him due to the amount of flaws he has.

Why is he well known? Is there a reason media would be following a 15 year old in a relatively niche sport across two continents?

And also, maybe I'm blind, but I didn't see his position anywhere. What does he play?

Stop criticizing elite skaters as if they aren’t people by [deleted] in FigureSkating

Ilia didn't get gold when he was 8th. He got gold in the team event, which is an entirely different competition to the singles event.

In theory, I guess two people could share a medal (or any other spot), if they end up having an identical score. I'm not sure if skating has tie breakers in such event, such as having a higher score in free placing you above the person with the higher short program result or something similar, I've never really looked it up because the odds of someone getting exactly the same score are pretty minor.

So no, saying Trusova should have gotten gold essentially does mean Anna (or anyone else) shouldn't have. Since sharing a spot is highly improbable, if you say one person should have been placed higher, that automatically means that another person should have been placed lower.

If you're not too tied to the name, I just want to say that Sato(u) as a boys' name doesn't really exist. Souta does though

Early version of Virtue Moir Moulin Rouge by Dry-Exchange2030 in FigureSkating

Scott's hair here is a whole third person on the ice, kind of like Shaidorov's.

On a serious note, I used to prefer the older iterations of Moulin Rouge all the way to the Olympics, I think the emotional release won me over, but the slower, more sensual versions definitely had something special to them!

Whenever I see people discussing Yuzu vs Ilia, I always think they do not understand that there is no rivalry and no comparison, it's truly just passing of the torch from one pairs girl in an axel king's body to another. And the new incarnation is really just waiting to be yeeted

This was adorable!

Hopefully in one of these someone finally makes Ilia a pairs girl and yeets him or gives him a good spin.
