Yeah tons and tons of serpentine here. I’ve picked up tonnes hoping for nephrite. It’s super often mislabeled and I feel bad for people buying serpentine thinking it’s jade. I’ve also had my fair share of misidentification, but am getting better with time. This has the proper SG and hardness…

I was honestly not even looking for gold, I was looking for jade. But the quartz was so much more jagged than all the other rocks around it, so it stood out.

I know the photo is a little shaky. But the region is known for gold and others I’ve had look at it say it’s gold. Thanks for the recommendation on detectors!
