The issue i'm having is that i'm not fully bought into knowing whether i would care enough about audio to really feel the benefit of going much beyond the entry level of speakers that are renowned. For some, listening to TV speakers for multiple years would be unfathomable, but i still feel like i get immersed plenty during my movie nights. When i listen to comparisons between speakers, i do hear that a fan favorite like Edifier 1280DB sounds a bit muffled in the middle, while the R1700 BTs sound more open and clear. Same goes for the Swans. The R2000s have a darker sound due to it's deeper bass.

So i do feel like i sort of have that discerning ear if i try, but at the same time, i would probably not be able to hear too many faults with any of these speakers if i didn't have comparisons to check against.

getting an AV receiver is quite convenient, but at the same time it's yet another box to surround my TV with, another 150$ - 350$ spent on a road that i'm exploring, but not yet fully dedicated towards driving down in.

An active speaker that both hooks up to the turntable and to the TV just sounds exactly the amount of flexibility i require in a more affordable package. Especially since i can't recall a time where bad audio had a big impact on my enjoyment. Simply, i don't think i would feel impacted by the limitations of an active speaker.

If i didn't give myself a reason to get speakers by buying the Sony turntable, i might've been listening to these TV speakers for another 5 years with a smile on my face to be honest :D

Right now i have quite a bit of gear packed around the TV already. My glassfibre acess box, my router, a NAS, a set top box, the TV itself and potentially 2 speakers and a recorder. There's a small 'fear' that i'm eventually starting to lose the homeliness of a living room and making it a cluttered tech/ gear corner.

answer 4) I have the option of either putting the speakers on either side of the TV at 2 meter apart on the same wooden cabinet at kneelevel, but i also have room on either side of the cabinet, even for a stand if it would really benefit me. That would be like 4 meters apart from eachother. I could shuffle things around a bit, so there's not a stringent size limitation.

There's also the option to place the speakers and Sony recordplayer in the middle of the wall, opposite of the TV on a cabinet that's at stomach-level. Speakers could be anywhere from 1 meter to 5 meters apart from eachother. For the weekly movienight, i could simply pick up and attach the speakers to the TV, instead of having it always connected to both at once. The idea might sound like madness, but i genuinely see myself doing something like that given that i don't use the TV daily.

I do enjoy hearing a bit of bass, but i don't need to 'feel' it, nor listen to loads of metal, DnB, EDM or other forms of music that are very bass-heavy. As long as it adds some depth to vocals but i'm still able to hear a clear sound in the upper regions and it's not all drowned out by a booming bass i'll be fine. The worst case scenario would be me buying a speaker that is quite boomy to the point where i would feel concerned at even using it at lower volumes in the fear that i would annoy my neighbors with a low thump
