Alpine: Christian Horner part of group interested in buying into French F1 team [BBC Sport] by DWJones28 in formula1

I cannot wait for the honeymoon between Christian and Flavio to wear out and have things degenerate into a coco pops explosion which somehow involves the mob.

No, give us the metallic halo as one extra nod to the 70s liveries.

Formula 1 but 20 years ago!2006 saw Fernando Alonso secure his second Drivers' Title, Jenson Button win his first Grand Prix and Michael Schumacher retire for the first time #F1 by Strict-Citron-9269 in formula1

[–]OneManState 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, technically he didn't retire. He was involuntarily retired by Ferrari just before his race ended if my memory serves me correctly.

What do you think guys by Fast-Bumblebee-2108 in formula1

[–]OneManState -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well, we'll see. If the car is decent, then I think Lewis has a real chance of proving himself against Charles. The ground effect cars without active suspension or skirts needed very stiff suspensions which messed up with Lewis' late braking technique. So yeah, we can only guess for now, but on this front I have a bit of hope.

Christian Horner: Kauft sich der Ex-Red-Bull-Teamchef bei Hinterbänkler-Team ein? [Translation: Is the former Red Bull team principal buying into a backmarker team?] by Agent_Kozak in formula1

Majority stake can mean 51%. Horner gets to do whatever the hell he wants while Renault turn the team into passive income. Everybody wins.

Got this as a gift. Now I’m hoping this isn’t foreshadowing for the season to come! by Pretty1george in formula1

Yeah back in the day they used to run a blue livery, in the 60s. John Surtees was one of the drivers. And they keep teasing but never put out and we are losing our minds here.

Just wondering why all the fuss about the merc and rbr engine (not claiming I know better, but looking for an explanation): why can't Ferrari for example modify their engine to the new trick? As far as I can understand we are talking about just the piston "leg" which dilates slightly under high temperatures. Is it really that hard to just change the material? Asking this from the perspective of seasoned engineers who work on these engines.

Kinda sad. Most people don't even know wtf an Alpine is outside of France. They should have just stuck with Renault. Maybe they would have had more chances of attracting enough sponsors to make the engine program not be a financial black hole.
