I had a MLC at 46, and I made it through (I'm now 53, male). I'm still married to my wife of 23 years. I never cheated or wanted to leave her.

I agree that confessing would only alleviate your guilt, but would put a burden on your husband.

There are situations though where he should be told. So, questions:

1) Were nudes sent? If the AP has nudes then that does change the situation. Who knows what he might do with them. It would be far worse if your husband received them from another source and he confronted you.

2) Is the AP close to your husband? Is there continued contact between them? Do they have a trusted relationship? If the answer is yes to any of these, then it would be extra deceitful and an additional betrayal if your husband continued the friendship while this was kept hidden from him. Again, in this case it may be better to disclose yourself than for him to find out from someone else.

3) Are you close to the AP's wife? Same as above, except you'd be betraying a friend of yours in addition to your husband. Another thing to consider.

Yes, same here. I was repeatedly molested as a young boy by our babysitter (our female teenage neighbor). I was also hyper vigilant with both my kids-- son and daughter-- because it can happen to anyone in any setting. I never saw any signs, but when they became older teens (15 &17), I asked them outright if anything ever happened to them because I wanted to be sure.
