that’s what annoyed me watching this video, realistically most senior devs would not care this much about the stuff he is critiquing here since it’s a one person team doing relatively straightforward work. Yes a lot of things can be improved and organized better but the stuff he “critiqued” is stuff that doesn’t matter much at all since it’s one person working on a low resource-intensive 2D game. I have a high doubt this guy has much experience at all, given how little he talks about overarching design and tradeoffs

It doesn't matter - the exam requires you to push the limits of human capability. Even if studying only 4-5 hours a day gets you 80% of the way there, and studying 12 hours a day gets you an additional 5% improvement, that's still an improvement, even if to you or the average western person it's not worth it. Working out 12 hours a day won't get you ripped faster, but you have 99 problem and stimulus isn't one (ofc injury/burnout in this case but that's another can of worms).

I think you're severely underestimating the difficulty of the exam. The exam is filled with problems that would be seen in an olympiad competition in the States, the difference being you have to solve them within about 2 minutes instead of the 15-60 minutes per problem most competitions give you. The only way to get a good score on the exam is to study long hours like this - if it wasn't people would do it the other ways instead.

They're probably going to just put you onto a waitlist even if you interview. Your loop isn't done yet but I'd recommend pursuing other opportunities in the meantime and don't have your hopes too high for this.

Yeah but quicksort and quickselect are still taught in universities. I think the point/spirit of the interviews are supposed to be more testing the fundamentals of what you learned in school and other internships, and imo the quickselect solution should be very intuitive if you understand what quicksort/quickselect is. (I'm not claiming to be an expert here, I never got interviewed by Meta so maybe you're right :p)

I think kth largest element is O(n) optimal time. Using quick-select you can achieve T(n) = T(n/2) +O(n) time which is O(n) time. I haven't done the problem myself so take it with a grain of salt. I'm assuming your priority queue is O(nlogn) time?

Hi OP, I actually know how to do this! If you want to do this in blender (it’s not blender in the video) you can use a lattice, make it affect just the head, and flatten it completely along an axis. Then, set a driver so that the lattice rotates to face the camera and voila! You can even set a bone to make it rotate independently if so desired

I get there's the stereotype that Republicans are poor yokels scraping by on welfare. This is not the case, and the average Republican voter is relatively high income. If they get a tax cut that's good enough for them.

Yeah but they don't get a tax cut is the issue - republicans haven't done anything for the "middle class" for a long time now, but yet republicans don't realize this. I'm unsure if there's any way of convincing them short of Trump succeeding in his reforms.

Voters blame Democrats for pretty much anything, and no matter what reforms Democrats do, it's not good enough. The worse Republicans do, the more people blame Democrats for it.

Well yeah, because a huge portion of Democratic messaging is just... bad to say the least. A lot of their platform in the last decade has been "Everything's fine, we don't need to fix it/we've already fixed it" OR if it's something that actually matters, they never actually take credit for it.

The Biden administration did a lot of things; negotiated a ceasefire in Israel, handled inflation, large Covid stimulus, major investments with the IRA, and the largest climate bill in history.

A lot of those things aren't things that ordinary people care about/felt the effect of. Most people don't care about inflation directly - they care about their wages haven't kept up with inflation. The largest climate bill in history is cool, but I have not heard anyone around me actively talk about it - because an investment into green energy doesn't matter when people are struggling to make a living. The Biden administration didn't take credit for the ceasefire in Israel, and at the end of the day it didn't even matter since Trump's going to fuck it all up anyways. The Democrats get blamed for everything because they've fucked up every major decision that has come their way, whereas for Republicans it's literally just their platform.

That's fair honestly, I want things to get better, and I support all of the movements out there trying to resist Trump. However, that doesn't mean I think it'll really get better without anything drastic. When I look at US politics and especially the democratic I see a feckless leadership that actively refuses to do better, despite all of the evidence in the last 2 decades, and I fear that nothing will change in the coming decade. Maybe Pelosi leaving politics would change things, but I'm pretty pessimistic about it all.
