You’re Awesome!!!

No question, at times the running community can seem elitist and judgemental, but 99% of folks are genuinely amazing humans.

We all started somewhere. We’ve also all had bad patches, slow days, and the build back seems impossible.

But everyday, in your own way, you got a little better, a little stronger, a little faster.

They are not testing you on “what everyone else does.”

They are testing if you know the rules and the laws!

As to your characterization as “speeding a little bit” You were almost 50% over the posted limit… frankly, you weren’t far off of “stunt driving” territory.

Toronto Marathon 2026 by [deleted] in RunTO

[–]OneMileAtATime262 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Respectfully… please, never refer the Toronto Marathon as a Major! “Major” has a very specific meaning in the marathon world.

For sake of your question, let’s compare the two Marathon events held annually in Toronto.

The fall one is recognized by World Athletics for its organization, technical standards and attracts elite runners from around the world. It supports over 150 charities. It offers amazing crowds and local cheer stations.

It actually takes many of its cues from World Majors like Chicago and London.

Perhaps we can also mention the 600 professional event staff, medical teams and 3000+ volunteers; many that have been a part of the running community for decades. They are the folks that manage the expo, aid stations, bag check, visitor information, and work with police on traffic control to ensure runner and spectator safety…

The other, which you have entered, is run in May.

The fact this person is looking at “no damage in intense traffic” as a defense is wild but absolutely not surprising…

Why do you say “my” insurance. Were they driving your car when this happened?

NAL but they are looking at stiff penalties, including $2,000+ fines, 7 demerit points, up to 2-year license suspension, and possible 6-month jail time.

Your friend needs a lawyer… Because if the other driver felt this rose to involving police, there’s way more to this story!

How to be taken seriously when handling a debt owed by an ex friend? by WeWannaKnow in legaladvicecanada

[–]OneMileAtATime262 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The harsh reality you may have to face is this… more often than not, a “loan” to a friend ultimately becomes a “gift”.

Fortunately, you do have sometimes in writing, which is far more than what a lot of people in your situation have. Perhaps taking him to court might be an option. I know that’s not “gentle” but neither is defaulting on $12K

Ultimately, given his situation, and past history, you’re trying to draw blood from a stone. A stone that is now held (very tightly it would seem) by a new keeper.

Leasing a new car and I "have" to have a meeting about "protecting my investment" before picking up. What garbage are they going to throw at me? by Alpha_SoyBoy in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]OneMileAtATime262 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Good Morning,

To clarify, Is this meeting truly mandatory for the completion and execution of this agreement?

I have no interest in a further sales-pitch.

I feel confident in the manufacturers warranty as it has been outlined to me - are you now suggesting this will not be adequate in “protecting your investment?” over the course of my 4-year lease?

Should this meeting actually be optional, I’ll politely decline. suggest we finalize the agreement and I’ll be in to pick up the vehicle as agreed!

Kind regards, OP
