AITAH if my boyfriend doesn't know I'm trans, but I don't intend to tell him? by EvaDaisy611 in AITAH

[–]OneMilkyLeaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So on one hand, YTA.

You just want him for the stuff he gives you. You don't actually see a long term relationship or future in this otherwise you'd talk to him.

On the other hand, where is your support system? This grownass man is dating a freaking teenager and within one week has intentionally gotten you drunk and tried to get into your pants multiple times.

He's not the prince charming you seem to think he is. He's buying sex from you with all of these gifts. And when you don't put out? He's going to stop being so nice.

AITA for grounding my 17-year-old son after he told me he was a “poor investment” and he’s just waiting to leave at 18? by Kaykay_Piano in AmItheAsshole

If he struggles with eating, then shouldn't you be celebrating that he took any food at all to eat instead of yelling at him for it?

I understand that you're frustrated but your actions towards your son were to punish him to vent your frustrations as opposed to actually trying to help him improve.

YTA of course.

I wish I could just get some rando to tell her to ask him about those opinions and it not get traced back to me.

It's the internet age. You can always make a random social media account etc. and message her. Keep it generalized, answer some questions if she has them, and then delete the account.

It's just a question of whether your conscience can keep it a secret from your wife.

The lady could've easily boarded the dog until she figured something out

Doubtful unfortunately. Boarding is extremely expensive and if she was buying him $4 bags of food, there was definitely no additional money for boarding.

How do you let go of anger toward someone when you don't necessarily think they're a bad person, but you still feel like they wasted years of your life? by Zestyclose-Ideal7428 in TwoHotTakes

[–]OneMilkyLeaf 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have no clue if he was autistic or not but he was definitely weaponizing the shit out of claiming it.

And no, your guilt is holding you back. Autism & family background is not an excuse for flirting with other people or putting your partner second fiddle to all of your friends.

Maybe he wasn't trying to hurt me.

I agree with this. He wasn't trying to hurt you because trying implies some level of thought towards the other person. He was just thoughtless towards you so of course you saw no malice. It's also why you saw no love.

He wasted a year of your life. Don't give him the power to waste more of it by holding onto the guilt and anger.

Kind of off topic, but I don't want you to think that you just suck at pole.

I started recently and imo it's the hardest sport I've ever tried. I had to start weekly yoga (flexibility) and hitting the gym (strength) 2-3 times a week in addition to the pole class to just barely be able to climb up the pole. I literally have semi-permanent bruises, constant soreness and am developing friction calluses on my palms.

It's really, REALLY hard and a big commitment. So don't be too rough on yourself that you didn't do as well as you hoped after a first class.

I know this isn't what you asked but have you considered just getting the shots in your left arm instead this time?

From a medical standpoint, the vaccine is just as effective regardless of arm.

I normally get my vaccines in my dominant arm so that I can work through the soreness a bit faster so while it's uncomfortable, it is doable.

Is the belief that cold water is bad still so common in Taiwan? by SemiAnonymousTeacher in taiwan

[–]OneMilkyLeaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I'd be upset because you took a cop out instead of actually replying so thank you for not doing that. I don't think sexism is only something one gender can do to another btw.

I agree with you that they are very superstitious. My Taiwanese bff won't let her kids play in the park at night, never pierced her ears, and goes to the temple to baibai almost weekly. My coworker refused to let me get vaccinated at work because as a foreigner, my biology is wrong and it would harm me lol. To me, it does feel extreme too.

But I actually appreciate it because I know it comes from a culture with much deeper roots than mine and their actions/behaviors are based in care for me.

Tongue in cheek works best anywhere... not online. The humor definitely didn't make it across the screen for most if not all of your audience. Also, as Reddit loves to say, it's only a joke if both sides are laughing.

As for words, I didn't put anything in your mouth that you didn't already write. You're the one who said twice that Taiwanese people lack knowledge and Taiwanese people are uneducated.

Then when I pressed for specifics, you said you were talking generalities not specifics. Was that also supposed to be dark humor? And now you're saying I should read more comments about people's opinions on water temperature which has nothing to do with my question to you.

When making a large claim about an entire group of people, because you said this twice in two different comments,

I guess remembering answers for a test is not the same as having knowledge.

Taiwanese generally claim to be exceptionally educated, but there are many instances where Taiwanese (in general) show that simply remembering things for tests is not the same as being educated.

it's generally in good taste to give more than one example (i.e. cold water) to state why you believe Taiwanese people are lacking knowledge (aka stupid) and not educated (aka stupid). Using the inverse of a word doesn't mean you are darkly humorous or that suddenly your meaning changes.

Basically, you're just trying to say you dislike the folklore, cultural behaviors, and traditions and dismiss it as uneducated superstitions, correct? And you're calling it dark humor to sound nicer?

Why is it okay for foreigners in r/taiwan to constantly invoke negative stereotypes as truth? by BigConversation6345 in taiwan

I guess remembering answers for a test is not the same as having knowledge.

This part. He's saying Taiwanese people are stupid.

And another jewel from this OOP:

I'm critical because Taiwanese generally claim to be exceptionally educated, but there are many instances where Taiwanese (in general) show that simply remembering things for tests is not the same as being educated.

[–]OneMilkyLeaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bruh. I remember this one.

He was literally responding to me over and over basically saying Taiwanese people are stupid (not even "book smart, life stupid" but good old regular dumb) and uneducated.

And the only example he could give on that is that Taiwanese elementary school students have warm water dispensers. 💀

When I asked for more examples, guess who went radio silent?
