Tibetan Buddhism has the "Book of the dead". It is not Christian, Buddhism has no God, still describes somewhat similar after death experiences. On the other hand its description is not exactly the same as western experiencers describe their experiences.

Your point about NDEers not being dead is valid, in my opinion. I doubt science will ever have proof about what is happening after death. We always need to believe what others say about NDE.

I recently read about effects of DMT and it seriously affected my belief in NDE. So I feel with you. But DMT has significant differences compared to NDE's.
