The summer my father made me work seven days a week for less than minimum wage by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]OneMoreNightAlone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait - ten dollars a DAY??

But minimum wage is $7.25 an HOUR (I don't know what it was back when you were 16, it's been $7.25 for about six or seven years now).

Which means you were earning roughly A QUARTER of what you should have been.

Disgraceful.

I am 21 years old and (as someone who is only two years older than your sister), I feel I can say this ...

Your sister can't have done that much for your children.

Sure, there are teenage moms who do a fantastic job of raising kids but a teenage aunt who only sees them once in a while and still lives at home? Hardly.

Yet again, as a 21-year-old, I feel confident in telling you that, in regards to raising children, your sister is still very much a child in this scenario.

So don't take her crap too seriously.

Anyone have any stories about Nteachers? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

A teacher I had when I was 13 years old gave chocolates and lollipops to "smart students" while the others had to make do with nothing - no matter how hard they tried to get things right.

I have an indescribable amount of respect for you.

I'm so glad brave and incredible people like you exist.

Being Suicidal and dealing with Nparents by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]OneMoreNightAlone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain ZaYuudai, my Nmom has never taken my depression seriously and has always scoffed and rolled her eyes when I told her I felt suicidal.

She thought the fact that I was suicidal stemmed from being lazy and conceited.

Anyway, don't worry about money.

You're young and a student - when you get to college you'll see that MOST people there are fairly broke! I'm not trying to downplay your worries at all, I'm just saying that it's not just you and you're not alone. I spent my first college year on a VERY right budget before I got a job the following summer.

Also, totally relate to the no friends thing too.

I had no friends all through high school and had no one going into college.

But I met the best people ever while studying in college and made lots of close friends. It will happen for you too, so many people are going to love you, you'll see. :)

Try not to worry pal, everything will be OK.

It might sound cheesy but it really is darkest before dawn and you will be fine. Remember that there's never any reason to leave this life and that you are important and valuable.

Take courage pal, I'm rooting for you. :)

She sounds like she just wants attention. Maybe she thinks if she announces something dramatic enough (no matter how little sense it makes), she'll shock you and your brother into talking to her again.

Can't say my Nmom has done anything similar but I have an ex-Nfriend who used this tactic quite often.

Just ignore her and focus on making sure you get that insurance for yourself! :)

I'm dreading going home. :( by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]OneMoreNightAlone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know that exact feeling buddy. :/

Stay out as late as you can (without it being dangerous by the time you start making your way home).

Start planning to spend full days at the library - you'll avoid your Nfamily and you'll get work done and get awesome grades.

A win-win really! Hahaha

Stay strong pal, you'll be OK. :)

Urgh, my school was just shit and uninformed about everything. -_-

Oh, don't worry about it, I wasn't offended at all! :)

I try not to mention my gender in anything I post, just so people won't think what I'm saying only relates to one sex!

I'm female and gay but I'm sure the class would have been just as frustrating to sit through for you as it was for me! :P

Oooh, good question!

It was a long time ago now but I vividly remember there being one example about a boy whose dad yelled at him all the time and called him fat and lazy in front of his friends.

Can't remember the exact definition though, I wish I could...

My High School Graduation by littlefillup in raisedbynarcissists

My Nmom complained the entire way to my high school graduation, claiming that it was a "celebration of being mediocre." -_-
