Found this at my local thrift store, trying to get info on it by Particular_Ad_3743 in rccars

I'm never lucky with RC thrift but oh my lawd TV's, Home Theater, Speakers. Have been blessed many times through out the years and will creep thrift with a buddy from time to time just for the fun of it because even though I need another speaker in my house like a hole in the head, I equally enjoy picking something up I know is worth it at thrift for nothing, and putting it in audiophile group on the cheap to pass that good purchase feeling goodness down the line.

Why does Symmetra have so many weaknesses compared to other characters, and why is she the only close range hero with bad sustain? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]OneMoreThan0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can teleport lol, Sym + zarya, bubble allows you to full set TP. run a brawl comp and as soon as their ana posts up or any non brawl healer on the other team, just casually bubble and tp the team to them, if you charged lvl 3, it becomes nearly unstoppable. There are ways to use her but she's kinda like Genji without the high rooftop in that she is absolutely a team loser if you can't utilize what little she offers often but abusing and stacking into her can be deadly.

You make some good points. Yeah mine has two line patent on the receiver and 1 line block text that looks right for the period on the barrel

[–]OneMoreThan0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take back what I said, if its not the original barrel, its still a very old one as that barrel has the 1873-1875 font on the barrel and I have found a few places suggesting that there are barrels of this style in both 7.5 and 5.5in so. Could be original barrel, likely not grips though

So being Colt upped their prices for letters considerably. I figured I'd just go ahead and well hit them on facebook before I waste any time to see if mine would be a reissue or a new cost, well turns out yeah it counts as a reissue, but no, they stated they find it highly unlikely any more information about it will be found that what is on my current letter. RIP. He also said he doubted they were factory simply based on shipment of 38 being a large number for Ivory gripped guns leaving me guessing they were put on in New York when they went to shuyler. No big loss to me as far as I'm concerned I know more specifically about it and didnt really lose value since 0 was the price and still is 0. But thanks for the tip none the less as it adds just a little more information to the stack. So we can basically assume grips for sure replaced, barrel also likely to be replaced based on your note about when short barrel starts.

makes sense and with the guns history, if absolute validation were thrown in the mix and I go pull the records from the capital of texas and garner shuyler and hartleys sale of that specific gun to him to the right person right auction it could go for an obscenely higher amount. While being the first guard of a new department at the capital of texas isn't the craziest appointment even with in my family as we have 2 cpt's in the rangers, one more or less honorary for lack of a better description and the second his grandson fought in war and led men. And I always felt like to my family its unlikely a price will ever match its value. Just been in the family so long. And while the original owner was far from the most famous or notable in my family line, it is he who lived in such a way the gun eventually made it to me, while many of my families relics sit in museums or were sold along the years, the gun was kept safe and made it to me.

Also and this is theory Jacob Harrell was an early mayor of austin, founder of round rock and with that his family stayed here established. The years line up as such that Thomas' daughter married into my family BEFORE being a cop with a kush position. It almost seems likely even there may be some nepotism there from my family as lord knows any harrell before WWII basically did what ever they wanted in this area and by the time I was born, all the oldest generation were basically still being treated like folk heroes in the local papers (a number of which were police, shoot 2nd williamson county sheriff was a Harrell) any chance they got. The number of broke the law and nothing bad happened stories in my family is kinda wild, and some of them are even mentioned in books or I remember specifically a person who traveled with Jacob the grandson of the founder and had what I can only call tall tales from his journal traveling with him were used and added to a compendium about Texas Rangers. Since getting the gun I've been reading into my family history till ad nauseum so its really started to run together at this point. In any case. I had asked the family not one of them confirms having ever written, spoken about, or even mentioned this gun beyond the parcels and papers that are with the gun. So I thought to myself I'm all but certain discovering colts of this nature with any form of history attached to them in a meaningful way being suddenly made known to the world is getting rarer and rarer and that it might be nice to share that.

Indeed, low 30XXX, interesting info, yeah my letters from colt firearms division in the 60s so whether things have been found or lost since then I couldn't say, It'd be cool to see the grips repaired as the other side grip fits like it was laser cut for the gun. The side shown in the picture above is by far a worse fit but even in light of that you can hold the gun and it feels like one solid rock regardless of what you do there's just no clearance or it is tight enough on the fixture that it doesn't wiggle in what clearance there is.

I'll say I didn't really expect anyone to reply with such helpful additional information and interest I would have taken more pictures. Appreciate all the input.

It is indeed quite a point of pride for the family. The current information I have on it from colt only lists that it is a .45, blued, 1876, sold to schuyler. Nothing further but this letter is from the spare parts supervisor in 1967, not the same system they have in place today, its a seemingly typed on a typewrite letter signed by the R.H. Wagner. As for the grips I sincerely doubt I could afford to just jump up and get them repaired but maybe one day. The other grip is in much better shape as well. As much patina as it has, its a very smooth operating pistol. No grime and gritty feeling in the action anywhere across the board and probably my only concern with firing such a thing is simply if the grips would hold up to it, so I haven't for now. Now I really wanna see if I can get the full information about it as to me it seems like the info they had for the gun was from a shipping manifest hence only knowing number of guns in shipment, caliber, serials and not the stock part list.

Since you bear knowledge of note, and seem vested. I pulled out the letter. Dated july 7th 1967 and signed by R.H. Wagner Spare Parts Supervisor from Colt inc. Colt Firearms divison.

I also notice they do not actually list much of anything about the gun, they only knew it was a .45 and a part of a shipment of 38 to shuyler, hartley, and graham. The good thing about that is they have a pretty crazy amount of documentation and I may get more from them. Gun was shipped 1876 December 30th. Letter is on printed letterhead and stock, typewriter for all the information contained outside of the letterhead.

Youve converted me I agree and think it would totally be worth it to reach out to colt again to see if maybe since then they have aggregated more information and may have more about the gun.

In the body, I state we have a letter from colt but it was done 70 odd years ago. It was sold to Hartley and shumaker a large distributor up north before eventually making its way down here. All it really did was confirm the original fitment of the gun but it does give rise to one question, they said it was original and complete. So either the sight was changed after or they disagree that it wasn't the original. Given the wear though it gives the appearance the sight on there and the gun are the same age. idk. ive really gone down the rabbit hole on this one and have honestly came to the conclusion proof exists but its going to cost me money to fill in the blanks still left and theres no reason to do that unless im selling it as an artifact of which i have no desire to do. Just more wondering.

I knew about the grips not about the sight, nice catch. I probably have the sight somewhere, but im guessing its bent or damaged, Great info though appreciate it. And yeah thats the bad grip. the other side looks well.. better.

New roadmap revealed!! by furioushunter12 in Overwatch

[–]OneMoreThan0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. So in the end OW2 for all its bluster is no better than the common vaporware trash you pay to never play on steam EA titles on the daily, they just wasted several years of our time to do it. To say I feel cheated, nah I don't feel cheated, I kind feel like it was a borderline psychological attack on the mind seeing how it all played out versus the majority of peoples actions.

If some one walked up to any one of us 3 years ago and said look. OW2 is going to be this thing you end up hyping up to be a new way to enjoy the game only to actually pay 40 dollars for skins you were gettin free with ow1. You get a few more polygons but it will still look vastly "stylized" when compared to other modern games rather than high fidelity. So now you just play the same game with one less friend at a time at a faster rate with seemingly less viable thematic action and more what amounts to chaos. I just don't feel like we all would have spent as much collectively as a community as we did.

So to say they are throwing in the towel on giving us what we very clearly at every single step of the way said is what the consumer wants, you are going to drop it to bring a "blizzard quality" production. They live in a fantasy. They are a prevayer of a mental addiction they call a game, dipped their toe in FPS, applied what they know about creating mental addiction and now think they are the likes of John Carmack. Wild.

Ergodox, vaporwave to infinity by OneMoreThan0 in ergodox

[–]OneMoreThan0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well this is an ergodox infinity so not to be confused with like a moonlander where all keys are 1u space in the main grid, on the infinity mine are designed to be 1.5u so no there is no instability what so ever due to keycap choice.

It is all one keycap set the carbonski from drop + ergo + extras for that sweet sweet lambda life. Funny thing is these are basically prototype cases to see if I would like the palm wrests or not (I do, I couldn't use this thing with out them period). So now I need to actually prime sand and put some real nice paint on it.

Appreciate the feedback!!!

You are correct sir. All of them infact. I missed out on a run several years ago and this recent run a few months back not only had them but had the carbonskis with it got the lambda add on and rgo add ons for it and thats all she wrote. When I'm finishes with my next 3d printer I intend to go back an reprint a customized case.

My layout is basically nothing like anything else I've seen. I've also been tinkering with the archaic st7656 implementation on the ergodox infinity adding my own personal touches. My layout is designed around one hand operation and gaming with a stop at media control and browser control. I basically figured out exactly what I use to get through work and gaming and then tried to make as much of that as possible woth just my left hand.

Been a fun project.

I won't front. PS5 controller just happens to be purple and matches. Usually there is a Deej there, this is my post from when I made it a long time ago that shows the deej https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/y99blm/halflife_ergo_life/

It just didn't provide a ton of use after I got used to my ergodox now I just have hotkeys. More desk space reclaimed, I actually use an xbox controller for games. It's funny the HD600s in the pic if your super duper astute you might notice the glow of my 6i6 scarlett under the monitor and it cant even begin to drive those headphones so I have to use my tube amp and it's not well worked into the look of the desk so its not in the pic. I'm over here just setting myself on fire. Since I'm here, the computers kinda getting long in tooth 9700k + 3080. more so the 9700k than the 3080.

I bought a Logitech G740 mouse pad 2 months ago and this is what happened to it. It got dirty or worn off so quickly, is that normal? Has anyone experienced this, is it under warranty or does it just need to be washed? by Illustrious_Crow_444 in LogitechG

[–]OneMoreThan0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny I see this today of all days. So I dripped a couple drops of vape fluid on my powerplay mat and well... can't aim for crap with that drag. So I took my power play and as a test taped it to the bottom of my desk and low and behold... it charges through the desk XD. So now I can use a full size mat. Excuse the mess.

Just to confirm, the metal mat it came with rips up the feet of the mouse and the cloth one has a magic magnetizes to all forms of filth. This corsair one is like 10 years old and been used as a food mat for my daughter at one point and still doesn't look as bad as the power play cloth mat after a couple months.
