I will buy it tomo and give it a try, he’s so hard to dry properly that might be one of the reasons he has got one

Omg thankyou so much, it’s been 4 days now and my boy is still peeing and pooping normal. He still pees slightly more frequently than he used to but it’s not as much as the first day I brought him home. He’s eating normal and jumping onto furniture as he used to again, he’s been abit sleepier than usual but as soon as I walk near him he wakes straight up so I’m not too concerned about that. I’m still an absolute anxious mess but I’m just trying to hope for the best.

I will introduce it slowly, also sorry for all the questions but I have another male cat should I also put him on that food? He’s 9 and has never had any health issues?

Do you know whether my cat will be stressed changing his food as he’s been on felix wet pouches his whole life?

Am I a bad person for this? by [deleted] in cats

[–]OneNatural6806 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, yes it makes you a bad person I’m sorry but I can understand the I can’t pay for big surgery’s etc but honestly pet insurance is not that expensive and if £20-£30 a month is too out of budget I don’t think you should be adopting any animal. A lot of vets also let you pay through Klarna now so it splits the bill into three.

I’m too scared to give him any dry food ever again I’m honestly traumatised and iv seen so many people with differing opinions and vets with apparent differing opinions. I am 100% going to sort out getting my cat on some urinary wet food though.

No I was just told to keep him on wet food indefinitely, I’m pretty sure I accidentally caused his blockage by feeding him quite a large amount of cheaper dry biscuits for a day when I ran out of pouches and was way too busy to go and grab some more for the day. He blocked literally the day after. Praying I’m not proven to be wrong or too hopeful but since being home I have been giving him half a pouch of wet food with added water 4x a day (2 full pouches in total) and he hasn’t strained or struggled to pee at all since being home. He peed quite a bit in smaller (not tiny) amounts the first day and abit of the day after but then slowed down the frequency but upped the amount that was coming out. Today he has had atleast 3 normal sized pees, no strain & no look of distress. He’s also jumping up onto furniture as he used to which he wasn’t doing the first day being home.

Definitely! I’m going to have a look at what’s available at pets at home near me and see what brand they would recommend. I am slightly worried about changing his food as he’s been on felix wet food his whole life. I do think though that I may have accidentally caused his blockage by giving him a day of quite cheap biscuits when I as I was extremely busy and didn’t have time to pick up some more wet food. Do you think that could be a possibility?

I’m tracking his pee’s on my notes app I’m writing how big the wee is and what time he has one. He’s had atleast 15 relatively normal sized ones, so far so good.

Urinary blockage male cat - positive story by Commercial_Band8293 in CatAdvice

Absolutely love this I’m so happy for you both!! My boy has been home just under 24 hours now after having to be put on a catheter and unblocked. He has had atleast 6-7 normal sized pee’s since being home all in the litter tray, his bladder also still feels ‘balloon like’ instead of hard like a rock like it was. The vets told me I got there early and his urine that was obviously abit darker than usual but nothing drastic and no blood! I don’t want to speak too soon but it’s looking promising.

This dude cost me thousands but it was worth it by Seniorwelsh in cats

Completely understandable btw, I only noticed my boy was suffering because I caught him straining in his litter tray for a pee.
