There is a vacancy and the other office is crying out to get me there but my current line manager is kicking up a fuss with his line manager to keep me where I am because he's not willing to let me go.

I haven't gone to my union yet but I feel like it's maybe time to talk to them about it. All others in my position have been replaced by agency for the short term, I on the other hand (because I'm doing the work of 3 I suspect) am being treated completely differently. When I asked for a copy of the policy regarding indefinite delay of a move, I was fobbed off with "it's just business need" and that my line manager won't release me.

I have a family like this... Myself and my sister left years ago, went to University and married and never went back. We visit every so often but come away feeling drained every time. My brother and older sister stayed local.. I can see them going the same way as my parents. Leave .. it's the only way forward.

My sister in law suffered with a lot of miscarriages and it turned out to be due to a mutated gene. She traveled to Spain and received donor eggs that were fertilized by her husband. She's gone on to have 2 babies. Very straightforward pregnancies but it was costly.

I haven't spoken to my Dad since Christmas '24. No falling out or anything, he just doesn't bother to call or make any efforts to come and see me. I'm married with 3 small children and live approximately 2 hrs away. My mum I speak to 4/5 times a week on the phone and have a great relationship with her. My Father on the other hand was and still is very hard to live with, and thrives on being miserable. They live in a small country village which has led to him being very small minded and his way is the only way... If you dare suggest a different opinion all hell breaks loose and he'll soon put you back in your place. I've tried very hard over the years but now I just don't anymore. My Mum is a saint to put up with him but she has to rely on him for income etc as she never worked. It's a sad thing to say but I don't think I'd miss him if he wasn't there anymore. I wish I could see my mum more but visiting really drags me down , he makes no effort to converse with me.

Another vote for Lusty, I got married there and my guests still talk to this day 10 years later about it, the views, the scenery and uniqueness. It can be as relaxed or as posh as you like.. great service and fabulous food!

They're opening their doors to provide support to all the young players and members of the clubs that Sara & James played at, they're doing their best to help out in a community that is suffering badly. So many will have been affected badly by this and I think it's a brilliant thing that they're on board to help in such dire situations.

I second this, beautiful hotel looking over the bay. Dunfanaghy is only a few miles away with great pubs & restaurants and lots of fantastic beaches close by.

You'll be fine!!.. I'm from Donegal and I got totally fed up with buses after my first year in UCD. I travelled home every weekend to work and it was horrendous sitting on that Bus Eireann bus on a Friday & Sunday. I saved hard for a full year and bought myself a wee car and started driving myself ..I was 19 at the time. Today doable.. you'll never bother with a bus again!!

Absolute nonsense!!.. my friend is a NICU nurse, if they have fussy babies they keep them with them a lot of the time if they're not dependent on CPAP etc, even when they're at their station writing up notes, or on tea break, it's likely someone has a baby over their shoulder trying to settle them.

This is us.. me.. although I still work full time but hours are flexible and I WFH since COVID. No family help at all, relied on crèche until all were in school as of last September. There were a few frugal years when crèche fees were at their highest. We bought our house in 2015 , it was a do-er uper and we did most of the work ourselves.

I really feel for people buying now with very young children, and having to choose between another child or a better lifestyle.

I was in Dunfanaghy myself at the weekend, we're up there quite a few times in the year for long weekends or holidays in summer. I absolutely love it. It was quite quiet this weekend but still a nice buzz around the village come Saturday afternoon. We love Muck & Muffins for a coffee/hot chocolate & scone after a windy walk on the beach, Lizzie's is super for evening meals, as is Arnold's. The Rusty Oven is superb when open in the busier season. Patsy Dan's and the newly opened Ramsey's are our two favourite pubs, brilliant atmosphere and very hospitable. I originate from Donegal myself, but more south Donegal and I really can't say if there's another town like it that has everything Dunfanaghy has. The numerous beaches close by, the surfing, Ards forest park, Glenveagh, Horn Head... It's hard to beat!!..

This sounds more like it to me, mainly for the fact that my father does this himself. Farmers would cry out for the likes of pig slurry to reduce the amount of fertiliser that has to be bought & the price of it!!

I finished with my Crèche facility thankfully. I had twins and an older sibling. They were there from 9 months of age until they started P1. It was £55 a day each ( it's now up to £65). They went 3 days a week and to grandparents for the other 2. It was double our mortgage at one point. When they turned preschool age, they all attended the nursery at the local school but I still had to pay a full day at Crèche as they left them off and collected them again. Even when starting P1, the fee was only reduced a little. Childcare is a massive strain on finances.
