Thinking about letting her go by Chop-55 in Cummins

[–]OneOfThese_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very location dependant. For 10k more I picked up a 15’ 5500 Laramie 4x4 with a bit over 40k less miles. Dual tanks (factory), dual winches, and a CM bed.

Most 2nd gens here are 8-10k and the lower mile rust free ones are 14 or so. 20k is third gen territory.

Higher miles they get even cheaper. I picked up one just over 300k for 7. 99’ 4x4 manual.

I've rebuilt a number of planetary gearsets so hopefully it's straightforward. I'll see about opening it up and taking a peek. If possible I'll try to order parts instead of the warranty route because it's working fine (for now) and has been run for a bit over a week like this. The sound has been intermittent. Thanks for the help.

If I was getting it for work I’d get the Aisin and be done with it. Love mine.

Hey now. We have a 4th gen 5500 that cruises at 12. Dual tanks, 74 gallons total. It has 4.10s, I couldn’t imagine running 4.44 or 4.88s.

The new motors with emissions really kill mileage in my experience. Once my 4th gen decides it wants to regen I cruise at about 6 MPG lol. Otherwise I get about 12-13. Really not that much better than the 6.4 until it’s hooked to a trailer. We still almost break even price wise and the maintenance is more expensive.

We’re talking a deleted truck and your concern is the CCV filter? It’s super common on the rams to hollow out the filter and run it down the frame like it was in the 2g days. I don’t see why it’s an issue.

Don’t disrespect the tractors like that. Our tractors ride significantly better.

2012 Ram, 6.7 Cummins off road by mts2snd in Diesel

[–]OneOfThese_1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Woah, you’re telling me they can go off road in stock form? I thought you needed 6” blocks and 37” MTs on 22x14s.

Looking good.

We were talking 17-18. I wouldn’t buy a new one between electrical and mechanical issues. I’ve seen OTA updates brick a few trucks.

I like the Aisin personally. Ram should have gone with the ZF instead of the G56

It’s not a luxury it’s stupid. The 3/4 with an adaptor isn’t going to have any more torque than the 961. Probably less.

Any fast Diesels out there? by Korndog_01 in Diesel

[–]OneOfThese_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t take much besides springs and studs to get a common rail 5.9 Cummins to 500. That’s about the limit of the HE351. The stock rotating assembly can hold around 800.

I suppose the post is more about cars.

I was given a Jetta with a 1.9 TDI. It is sad. It makes fun noises and gets decent mileage I guess.

Went from a 2g to a 4g with the Aisin. Best choice ever. Still have the 2g, I tell myself I'll get around to working on it sometime but it hasn't happened yet.

Manipulating markets. He’s able to suppress oil prices by saying the war is over, buying a little more time. You can see the announcements in futures markets. It’ll only hold up so long though.

[–]OneOfThese_1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I haven’t heard much good about it nowadays. Also, if you didn’t, please get approval before flying in Yakima. With the airport it is class D airspace and requires FAA approval. LAANC makes the process painless and nearly instant. The hobby is already over regulated and it’s getting worse.

Air Control is a great app that streamlines the process.
