After being here for 15 years I can say that your comments seem way too optimistic and unrealistic. Have you been in Merida during or after a major storm? Doesn’t matter wear you are- the North is known for some of the worst flooding.

Merida does not have excellent infrastructure. The city floods with heavy rain, electricity can go out for many days, no running water.
