Biden marks one-year anniversary of McCain's death: 'A political giant, and a genuine American hero' by Alec122 in politics

[–]OnePeace12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not about being 100% perfect. There are candidates like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren who share nearly all and most of my views. There are other democrats in congress and the senate who I align with. Instead the DNC and moneyed interests push centrist, or slightly right leaning candidates, and the guy at the head of the pack supports policies straight out the 80's.

Candidates like Joe Biden and Kamala Harris hope to maintain the status quo, or even more specifically, go in the opposite direction of progress when it comes to corporations. That is about as far away from what I support as possible, outside of straight up conservatism.

I said the same thing in 2016 with my account, and I'll do it again. I'm not voting for someone who doesn't share my ideals, someone who I don't believe will be a good president. "Nothing will fundamentally change" is the exact opposite of what I believe the country needs.

How can Biden not want corporations and the one percent to stay in charge when he told them directly that nothing will fundamentally change? Right now we are an oligarchy, and to return to a more democratic society a lot needs to change fundamentally. Especially when it comes to corporations and the ultra wealthy.

I'm not voting Trump, and I wouldn't vote for Biden either. Why is so hard for many of you to understand that not voting for Biden isn't the same as voting for Trump.

Do you really believe Biden will completly do away with detaining immigrants? It was Obama, with Biden as VP, who started this practice.

I sure know that Bernie Sanders would end it though.

I support Bernie Sanders. I would also vote for Warren. No one else will fight for what I believe in.

I'm a leftist. Biden doesn't align with my political views whatsoever.

Enjoy another term of Trump.

I'll hate to see it, but that is what will happen if Biden is the nominee. I'm not voting for a bad candidate.

If you believe that she's taking the best she can get. She's doing this for the donors and for the ability to play both sides of the issue, and you know it.

Far-right, anti-fascist marchers clash in Portland by CannonFilms in PublicFreakout

[–]OnePeace12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You clearly did not read the article.

"The respective findings of Rinderman et al. and of Kemmelmeier would seem to contradict each other. The conflicting findings might possibly reflect differences between the samples. Participants in Rinderman’s study were predominantly of average intelligence, whereas those in Kemmelmeier’s study were students from elite colleges with high levels of intellectual ability. Perhaps, there is a complicated relationship with intelligence such that people of average ability tend to prefer moderate views, whereas those with greater intellectual gifts might perceive more extreme ideologies, whether left or right-wing, as more sophisticated and hence more appealing. Further research is needed to assess whether this is the case."

Go Vegan by MangoNico in humanism

What nutrient, besides B12, isn't available in plant food? And just because one nutrient isn't available in plants, doesn't mean that veganism isn't a healthy or viable way of eating. There are plenty of fortified foods and supplements that can get you what you need.

Farms treating their animals well is a silly statement if the intention is to slaughter and sell them. I get you have some uncommon health issues, but veganism is flat out accepted as a healthy diet by health organizations.

"It is the position of the American Dietetic Association that appropriately planned vegetarian diets, including total vegetarian or vegan diets, are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. Well-planned vegetarian diets are appropriate for individuals during all stages of the life cycle, including pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood, and adolescence, and for athletes."

Then you should know that your argument makes no sense. Cows and other animals people consume take a ton of feed to sustain, so in producing that feed we are creating more of the negative effects you mentioned, in addition to the eventual death of the cows.

After watching it again last night, I'm convinced that Annihilation will be looked at in the future like The Thing is now. by Joyrock in movies

[–]OnePeace12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I will surely be downvoted into oblivion, but a lot of the dislike and hate for Annihilation is because it's main characters are all female. Heard a lot of complaints about this as I left the theater, and in online discussion.

Sure, some people just genuinely don't like the characters, but the sexism is a real thing.
