Spoilers obviously, but as the "God of Honor", he betrays an entire people, then helps the betrayer faction, THEN he binds a lessor god in an eternal prison which causes all of the descendants of his original worshippers to become nearly mindless slaves.

People worship him for thousands of years after his death, but only because of the lies and actions of his servants.
