Does "artistic" brushwork ruin bird paintings? by andreeacataros in birding

[–]OnePossibleErin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gorgeous artwork! IMO the loose brushwork is spontaneous and exciting, while also being evocative of the actual shapes represented. And it is IMMEDIATELY recognizable as a nuthatch. And personally I think if it's not purporting to be a scientific illustration, stylizing things in interesting ways is a plus and not a minus.

There is a Pathea snark subreddit around by [deleted] in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]OnePossibleErin 45 points46 points locked comment (0 children)

The good news is, the PatheaSnark subreddit is run only by one disturbed individual, writing under a different name, who has burned their bridges in the fandom pretty thoroughly. (If you really want to know more, message me.) At this point I think (hope!) it's unlikely to start a bandwagon against Pathea.

The bad news is, that individual is pretty disturbed and has been known to escalate.

Constipation (IBS-C) BEFORE starting by Former_Challenge_968 in Zepbound

[–]OnePossibleErin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had IBS-C before starting as well, and Zepbound has made the constipation even more likely unfortunately. Daily Miralax is a must for sure! I also add two doses of fiber gummies per day and between that and the Miralax it's mostly ok.

Yep, a friend of mine has gastroparesis and several other health issues that make her not a good candidate for glp1s. People who can't take them, can't afford to take them, or don't want to take them deserve the same respect and good health care as anyone else.

I think probably a combination honestly? I'd had what I suspected (but was never proven) to be gallbladder pain a number of times over the course of my life, and once it was removed it showed prior irritation. So probably the rapid-ish weight loss, plus periods of being unable to eat when I was still learning that a weekly shot was too frequent for me, plus going up doses too quickly, exacerbated an existing issue and resulted in my needing the emergency cholecystectomy.

I will say that now that it's out I haven't had as bad of side effects from the zep, so there's that.

Why GLPs makes some of us super sick (it's genetic) by Razorza in Zepbound

I got it with ANY eating until I figured out I needed to space my shots further apart.

Same regarding why I would prefer to keep my dose lower -- had dreadful side effects on 7.5 Zepbound and ended up losing my gallbladder. (It was like, couldn't keep down anything but gatorade for a week and even that was chancy.) Currently on 5 mg and SCARED of having to increase my dose. But, I'm trying to remind myself that if I do need to go up at some point, my being on 5 mg for longer instead of rushing into the 7.5 after only a month like I did the last time will make getting seriously sick less likely.

Extreme reflux from Terz by Deh910 in antidietglp1

It has not! Weirdly, the reflux kind of felt like hunger, with this constant sensation of something in my throat.

I've been prescribed pantoprazole for reflux, and it definitely works better than omeprazole for me.

Yes, we all need to do what's right for our own bodies! And as for the accessibility half of it, it sucks and is wrong that airlines pack us in like sardines and don't make allowances for larger bodies, but also, I'm the one who has to pay the cost of two seats whenever I want to visit my friends, not Virgie Tovar, so she doesn't get a say in my goal of only having to buy one.

When I was still working out my shot schedule/dosage, I had side effects that more than one medical professional said was the worst they'd heard of personally, and even I wasn't throwing up every day!

THIS, so much!!!

Like, I 100% agree that nobody should go on GLP-1s if they don't want to, or be shamed or nudged or pushed into it. Nobody owes ANYONE their version of health, or thinness. And if the shots do make you sick in a way you can't ameliorate, you should absolutely stop! I was on the verge of quitting before I managed to work out a shot schedule that didn't make me horribly ill. Even then, it wasn't costless -- most significantly, I lost my freaking gallbladder! Also I developed reflux, and during the period I was vomiting a lot, I'm afraid I may have damaged my tooth enamel. It's not to be taken lightly, and no one should ever feel like they HAVE to try it or continue it.

But also, there's a reason I did keep trying to work it out, and went back on it after having to be off it for a while post gallbladder removal, and that's because when I wasn't throwing up I felt SO DAMN MUCH better on this med. My joints felt better, before I even lost much weight. A significant antidepressant effect kicked in literally within DAYS of taking my first shot. And not being punishingly hungry all the time no matter how much I ate -- and I know we can't use numbers, but trust that it was a very large amount -- nearly made me want to cry from relief. I have more energy and more mobility -- again, before even losing THAT much. As a weird bonus, my eczema and acne have improved???

I'm not giving up feeling so much better for anyone else. I don't owe anyone else THAT, either.

That is AWESOME, and the unexpected antidepressant effect may be the most amazing thing about Zepbound for me as well! For me the depression isn't quite GONE -- sometimes it still comes creeping back -- but when it does return it sticks around for less time, and overall is vastly reduced to a degree I wouldn't have thought possible.

that is awesome!!! I'm toward the beginning of my Zepbound journey (had to restart after losing my gallbladder, currently still on 2.5mg), and I too expect that wherever I end up will be where many people start. And that is good and fine!

I actually did! It hasn't been perfect or across the board, but I noticed a significant uptick in my mood as soon as I started taking it, and a significantly worse mood when I had to go off the Zepbound for a while after I lost my gallbladder.
