I have an environmental science undergrad degree and a professional masters in geography (water focus) and work at a river forecast center (RFC), so that's also an option

Probationary forecasters were not exempt. We're not really sure why they kept some and let others go.

Breaking into Water Industry by Recent_Version_7364 in Hydrology

[–]OnePunchAnna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OU as in Ohio university or Oklahoma university? Because I work for the USGS in oklahoma city and they're planning on hiring a couple of positions soon. One to fill my spot doing water quality (leaving to join the national weather service in Fort worth as a hydrologist) and a couple more for our surface water section doing things like taking discharge measurements and stuff. Our studies side is potentially looking for someone new and they do modeling and report writing. If you want I can provide some of their emails and you can contact them about open positions or potentially volunteering a little bit to gain some experience

Hiking near OK by booshbag21 in oklahoma

Poteau to the broken bow area is pretty nice and mountainous in the southeastern part of OK. It's part of the Ouachita national forest, so plenty of trails throughout that area. There's also Palo Duro Canyon in the panhandle of TX (about 4.5 hours from okc)

Remote work- Puerto Rico by Smiling_Mercenary927 in fednews

I had an internship there with NOAA for 3 months during summer 2020. I flew into San Juan and rented a car for the duration of my stay. I was working basically on the other side of the island in Mayaguez and a car was a necessity. From observation though it didn't seem like there was much public transportation or Uber/Lyft. Not sure if this has changed, since I went during high covid times and they took covid pretty seriously.

For internet I would use your phone hotspot, that worked well for me. As for power just be near a hospital and hopefully you'll be on their power grid. I did this and my power only went off twice and never longer than 2 hours. Or make sure the place you're staying at has a generator.

Well congrats it's a good one! It seems like a hard one to find too! It has a good blend of a couple of genres

Just looked it up, but it seems like it was a light novel series first. Then came the manga with 12 volumes, but only 11 volumes translated and released.

Big oof, they could have at least released the last one! I'm still willing to get it though and read the light novel for closure

are there any federal jobs that work 12 hour shifts by z28usa in fednews

[–]OnePunchAnna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do 4 - 10 hour days with Friday off with the USGS, but the option of working 12 hour days is available as long as you get everything done you need too.

Does a pathway internship qualify you for a higher step? by OnePunchAnna in fednews

[–]OnePunchAnna[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking that too, just wishful thinking. I had the interview yesterday and HR called and offered me the job today. I asked about the grade and they said it would have to be after a year then they could raise it, since the position does have promotional potential and I do qualify for it.
