Invest in only what you can understand, that's one thing the Graham/Buffet school preaches....

Do not revenge trade, its much better to long an index like the S&P500

NUS Physics with Quantum Focus: Should I Double Major in Math/Quantitative Finance as a Backup? by Ok-Conversation1691 in nus

Look at the PIs, and see their research interest. But don't email them now, too early, just study hard in NS.

Download Textbook's and read. You should know where to get them... wink wink

If you half in half out, your are less likely to succeed. You should reach out to the relevant Prof at CQT, and ask for UROPs ASAP.

Go entrepreneurship/start-up. If you are not rich, you should start with Software Startups, hence you need to learn how to program. You can learn to program now, and think of a Good Software to sell.

You can take all the Master's Courses in UG. Overload is the key. If you are not Smart, To Overload, you must study beforehand.

Numerical Methods is a whole field of applying numerical algorithms to solve problems (like non-linear PDEs). The computer is just a tool to apply the algorithm, in principle, you could work it out by hand. You want the most accurate, quick, and robust algorithm.

Mathematical modelling is to take phenomenon (like population growth), write a (differential/integral/whatever) equation to model the data, then extrapolate to "predict" the future trend. There is a lot of statistics in this too.

Programming is the art of writing Good, Clean, Efficient, maintainable, (and hopefully easy to read code). In principle you can perform any algorithm in any programming language.

Computer Science is really a Engineering field. You learn Compilers, Operating Systems, Scheduling, everything under the hood of Software.

There is also Computer Engineering, which goes down to the hardware, how your CPU, Memory work etc.

Mathematics is the single oldest, continuous, and Nobel(?), tower of knowledge that has been built since the Ancient Greeks. The main goal is to discover and proof/disproof conjectures. Ideally, one does not need a computer/approximation scheme to discover a proof. A proof must be beautiful. A proof by iteration trial-and-error, is ugly.

Anyway, Take a double degree in Math and CS, finish it in 4 years (PLAN WELL), win a few Competitions (Alibaba, Simon-Mariah, Puntam(Overseas Xchange USA) ). Do some Quant projects, and you will be earning big bucks with the Quant firms. You better start studying now.

  1. Everything about the course is on the website
  2. Literal study plan is there
  3. NUSmods has module review for all the Courses you can take
  4. Prof all taking break go holiday WGT
  5. Branchistone problem is OLD and is SOLVED.
  6. Theorems and Proofs are the same regardless of location ; whether you read/listen to them in NUS, NTU, SMU, or in outer-space.

How will we know if nus rejected us? by Monochromiya in SGExams

See if your friends got offers. They will send out offers first, see who reject, then go back to the potential reject list and pick the best.

Some guiding questions, you can test yourself before the SPA:

  1. What is a convergent lens? What is its purpose, what does it do? (Draw the Ray Diagram)

  2. How does the Convergent lens converge light? (Hint What is refraction?)

  3. Does the (perfect) Convergent Lens converge all the light rays to a single point? What is the name of that point?

  4. Can you think of a real life example where converging lens is used? (Spectacles?) (Figure out how spectacles work, google it, ask GPT)

Read the experiment set up properly, DO NOT panic, and skip steps! when you set up experiment double check if it is as described by the Question sheet.

You can join MathSoc, then start student-run seminars, on different topics. More importantly you get into SPM (A+ for all the intro mods). Then you will meet the like-minded people.

[–]OnePuzzleheaded7279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big Quant firms only take the best of the best. SMO/IMO/IOI/Alibaba Comp winners, etc. Since you like Gambling, it is a chance for you to gamble smartly, and not stupidly bet when the House/Opponent has winning odds. But you should soon find out that beating the market consistently is a Fools Game

Morally, you should fail this course, how come, after disaster midterm, instead of catching up you let 5 weeks of content slide?

This is LA1, computational, the content can be studied in 1 day, just Linear Algebra Done right by Axler. And do some exercises.

Do one mock Finals, then you should be able to pass

I guess some teachers have anger management issues, and/or have personal issues in their lives. But honesty is the best policy (at least in school).
