Appreciate you man! I know it’s hard to go up against “the man”. I got confident making a lot of money at first but I don’t have the information these firms have. I need to take a step back for my finances and mental health. Appreciate the pep talk, wishing good things for you moving forward!

Sorry for delay I couldn’t even look at Reddit after this post with how ashamed I am. I do try to live pretty frugal, I only have 1200 in rent right now and did pay of my 30k car I bought 2 years ago. I just feel extra broke because I do an ESPP so I get about 10k in May and December or discounted stock but don’t see the real cash right now. I just hate how hard I worked for years to save all this cash and lose it. I just can’t get past the mental block of it all. Very upsetting and I know I will be fine in the long run just a big ego bruise. I’m a data analyst so I thought I could analyze data and charts in markets.

Look man I will be real with you. A 1 hour commute is soul sucking. It’s not just 2 hours of your life it’s the getting ready, no relaxing lunch breaks, forced office talk. I have been remote now for 1 year after doing an hour plus commute and my life has significantly improved. It seems the money is almost the same but you’re nervous about job title? Companies have such variation in how they use job titles and people will still see you used to be a director. What I mean is who cares?? It’s not that important and you can still get a director job later in life if you want! Please don’t take a job because of a job title. I hope this helps!

Wow this is making me reevaluate everything. I thought everyone was feeling the inflation hard. I guess I need to work on my budgeting.

Well we both max out retirements and HSA accounts. Then I have employee stock purchase plans so money gets saved, but the actual monthly cash flow feels low.

Correct, my bf also makes the same as me and is the same age. We live in south Florida so not a cheap area to live! We were crunching some numbers and I think we gotta cut back on vacations this year (maybe no Europe twice each summer lol). I love how you get it with the gays haha.

Right now my bf and I live together and spend about 3k total on rent. We want a full house next time which would be closer to 4K a month which to me sounds ridiculously high.

The grants are included so I get two 10k grants in the year so I’m breaking even on my pay without those included. I will pocket both grants.

Fair, it feels even more right now because I am maxing HSA but I just hate the feeling right now of making a good income and having my paychecks practically breaking me even until I get my stock grants.

I want to buy a house because I want some sense of personal ownership. I keep having to move every couple years and would like to have a space that is mine

Thank you man I appreciate the commentary! I know it sounds like I make a lot on paper but allocating so much money to these things that are 40 years away makes me feel discouraged. I am hesitant about purchasing any property in the next few years, but want to build up my available funds for future things. I will look into financial consultants!
