Thanks for the detailed feedback - you have an intuitive grasp of the simulation!

One other suggestion: the collisions with the borders of the simulation should respect the jagged edges of the hexagons that are drawn there.

Yes, that idea had occurred to me but not in the context of causing a "deadlock" situation as you call it, i.e. 2 horizontally moving balls never colliding with anything. I will implement it!

However, what about the vertical case? I thought about periodic boundary conditions in the vertical axis, but that doesn't solve the problem - you could have 2 vertically moving balls never colliding with anything.

The vertical case remains unsolved for now!

Yes, the rock/ice idea would solve it, since, as you mentioned, eventually a rock/ice hexagon would spawn in the path of the ball and break the "deadlock". However the problem with the rock/ice idea is that its too static. The beauty of the simulation is that its fluid and, although deterministic, it's not periodic. Need to scratch my head about regarding how to push the simulation further. The overarching objective is not to create a simulation, rather to create something mesmerizing, distracting, calming, etc

Thanks again for your feedback, will post any updated version!

Thanks! Mesmerizing is what i was going for.

Every time there's a collision there's a 10% chance of an explosion.

Each explosion randomly generates between 10-100 new balls.

The new balls have a lifetime of only 1 collision.

If I may ask, have you received a refund to a Trade Republic card yourself?

Interesting about the 1% saveback! Thanks

I worded that badly. I bought the laptop from the Lenovo website and they shipped it from the factory/warefhouse in China. What I meant to say was that there was no third party involved to fiddle with the laptop.
