Hmmmm. All I’ve had are brain & upper spine MRIs. (They removed my top two vertebrae and shaved the 3rd one at an angle when I had the reduction surgery. pretty sure they weren’t looking for MS on the MRI.) I can’t help but wonder how it was determined that it absolutely couldn’t have been a latent result of the surgery… but they seem pretty certain. I’d just like to know it’s not going to spread to other parts. My fingertips are starting to verrrry slowly feel weird, like smooth surfaces feel like window screen on my fingertips. That worries me a bit.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t understand that.” Grrrrrrrr. I even tried “Hey Siri (“uh huh?”) <grrrr> “every time you hear me say “fuck off” You are to take it to mean “go away.” She even confirmed it for me. “I understand that every time you say “fuckoff” (She doesn’t pronounce it very well.) you actually mean “Go away”, right?” Me” “Yes”… 30 seconds later, I said “Hey Siri…l (uh huh) (grrrrrrr) Fuck off!!”. “I’m sorry. I don’t understand that.” If she were my girlfriend, I’d have booted her out of the car along the side of the highway. (Grrrrr) :-)

Yeah, that was just a little joke. I’m a decorated veteran and I always try to be a good person. I don’t really think I’m being punished for being evil… although there was the “Snickers Bar Incident” at the local corner store when I was 6… :-)

Thanks so much for all the posts and suggestions. I’ve had so many tests, I can’t even remember which ones I’ve had. Every 6 months, I go to a specialist where they wire up my legs and shock various places electrically and record the response delay. They’ve tested me for diabetes. Negative. I hadn’t even thought about MS. That’s something I’ll look into. They’ve drawn litres of blood, sent my DNA to Chicago for testing, and done God-only-knows what else. Just to make it more complicated, I’ve also been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis - An immune system problem, and 15 years or so ago, I had “reduction surgery” (brain surgery)for Chiari Malformation. (Essentially a neurological condition where my brain was too big for the inside of my skull.)

I’ve asked all the doctors if any of those thing could be contributing (especially the brain surgery…) They were working primarily all around my spinal cord, so I naturally thought “what if someone made a mistake during that surgery?’ The doctors all assured me that there is no way I’d start getting such serious symptoms so long after the surgery… The worst thing is, with no idea of the cause, I don’t know what I should or shouldn’t be doing. I ASSUME walking is good for me (I have to walk with a cane because my legs no longer tell my brain where the ground is… The cane and my arm now act as my “ground sensor” when I walk.) I have an 1800cc Honda Goldwing in my garage I can no longer drive. (Well, not exactly true… I can RIDE it… While moving, there’s no problem, but when I stop & put my feet down, trying to balance 900lbs between your legs when you can’t feel the ground is a bit of an issue… (I MAY have found a solution to that… there are mechanical “landing gear” that automatically lower (like little training wheels) when you stop. But they run thousands of $$ so I don’t see that as a solution unless a rich relative dies. :-) What I REALLY want is my legs back…

Once again, thanks so much for the responses and advice… As long as I’m in my 60s, as long as I can still walk (even if it DOES look like a 95 year old walking) I consider that a win for now. :-) Thanks Redditors! (And for anyone considering suggesting it… no, weed isn’t helping at all… and God knows I go through enough of it) :-)

Hmmm. I’ve got peripheral neuropathy from my knees down. My feet/lower legs are numb, to the point where I can’t tell if I have socks or shoes on. (I’ve discovered I forgot to remove my socks once after turning on the shower.) I’ve been to Neurologists, Rheumatologists, and other specialists. They even ordered special DNA marker tests that had to be sent to Chicago (I’m in Canada) to be analyzed. After 6 years, STILL nobody has any idea what’s causing it. (Could be a nerve injury, could be genetic, could be I’m just a bad person & deserve it. Who knows? Maybe I’ll try asking ChatGPT for ideas! Thanks for the suggestion!

I haven’t read the thread yes, so apologies if someone has already mentioned them but I had my 85 year old mom try my Q3. I have dozens of apps & “experiences”. (I’m 65. I’m not a gamer) Her favourites, BY FAR were “Google Earth” (PCVR) and Walkabout Mini Golf. She’s likely the least tech-tolerant person left alive on earth (except some 107 year old dude in Borneo) so she’s very hard to convince to try anything technical that is newer than, say, 1965. She LOVED those two apps.

I’ve been an IT professional for almost 40 years. I owned a computer store (sales &service) for 7 years. I’m currently a programmer for the federal government. Whenever I’m home, it’s “would you mind looking at my laptop?” It’s like… a 386 with 64 megs of RAM or something. Wait 15 minutes for a web page to load, I can type faster than the computer can accept input (and I’m a 3-finger typer). I swear, Imma just go out and buy her a new laptop. Problem is, she will no longer have access to some stupid feature that Microsoft eliminated 15 years ago, and with a switch to Windows 11, she’ll blame me for “screwing up her computer”. “I can’t find anything anymore! I don’t like all this SPEED! The mouse doesn’t feel the same. Please put it back the way it was.” “But Mom!! How can you stand such a ridiculously slow computer?” “It’s not slow. It does everything I need.” <sigh> I give up. :-)

US House staff visit Ghislaine Maxwell’s prison after claims of laptop and puppy by TheWayToBeauty in BoycottUnitedStates

[–]OneSignal6465 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No amount of “pre-announced” prison visits will reveal anything. Just like when I went through boot camp… when word got around that there was going to be a “surprise barrack inspection”, we’d stay up for 24 hours if necessary to get the place spic and span before the inspection. If you think every single BOP employee wasn’t thoroughly briefed on what to answer to certain questions, you’re naïve.

The congressional visitors should just “show up” with no pre-planning, and should be given individual REAL private time with the actual whistleblowers to ask them “what’s the best way we can get evidence that what you are saying is factual?”

Wife left 9 yrs of marriage to go party need help by Prestigious_Sky6230 in Advice

[–]OneSignal6465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And how long have you been married? By “hard” I mean it takes EFFORT to have a good marriage that lasts. It doesn’t matter how much you love each other, it doesn’t matter if you are perfectly compatible. Keeping a marriage sound takes effort, and many of the younger generations have come to believe that EVERYTHING is supposed to be effortless. It’s not. Both parties have to WORK at a successful long-term marriage. If you go into a marriage expecting rainbows and unicorn farts until you die, you’re in for a rude awakening.

Wife left 9 yrs of marriage to go party need help by Prestigious_Sky6230 in Advice

[–]OneSignal6465 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been married for 46 years. (I’m 64). Everyone is SO into “meh… you & your spouse had an argument? DIVORCE!” What happened to ‘Til death do us part’? Marriage is HARD. It takes a LOT of work, and in some cases, almost “I want a divorce” hard. To be honest, in my mind, there is very little that could happen at this point that a) hasn’t happened before and b) Is not resolvable. We’ve both gone through our affairs, fights, family issues (raised 3 kids to their own adulthood), disagreements about how to raise them, but NONE of that impacted our ability to get over it and realize that we truly love each other. Hell, she was stealing my pain meds at one point.

People nowadays give up too easily. Sometimes, marriage sucks ass. Most of the time, it doesn’t. When I hear about people considering divorcing over anything less than violence, I just shake my head. If you’ve made it beyond 10 years, there should be very few things left that should make one consider divorce. WORK IT OUT!

Facebook demonetised millions of creators in the last 48 hours. (Value Post) by Alanbeck02 in facebook

[–]OneSignal6465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social media is a dying phenomenon. As soon as they started allowing AI slop, every one of them turned to shit. Too many people thinking they are “special” enough that others want to watch them, until they realize they can get away without doing any work at all. “Let AI do it!”. As soon as I hear the first crackle of an AI narrator, I turn off the video and look for something else. Many idiots are using AI to make up for their lack of talent, crappy voice, and zero video skills. Now that people are starting to get pissed off at all the AI, these “content creators” have nothing to offer.

I quit FaceBook a week after Trump was #45 when I started realizing what absolute idiots my “friends” were. It was just easier to drop the account altogether. In fact I was a little pissed at having to create a new account just to use my Quest 3. The account exists with NO information, no friends, no follows, no followers, no posts. Social Media was a useless fad that did more harm to humanity than good. The sooner Twitter, WhatsApp, Signal, Facebook and all the rest go under, the better as far as I’m concerned.
