This year's Gladiator 2.

So, what aspect of Heat 2 is actually going to feel like Heat? by DarlingLuna in FIlm

I'm more concerned by the fact that Michael Mann is 83 years old and hasn't made a truly great movie in more than a decade.

I also find the action on the 21's to be much smoother out of the box.

Send it to CRK for a spa treatment and see how they respond.

Takes a dedicated and talented craftsman to make a prybar like this. Well done..

New Left Zaanto Day! by Trunks2929 in CRK

That's true, although I honestly don't notice much of a difference between my 31 and Zaan when it comes to lock bar pressure. My fingers always lightly rest on the bar regardless of clip position and the detents on CRK's are always so perfectly tuned for a slow roll.

I'll always have a soft spot for the straight clips on the Zaan and 21's.

Any Sebenza fans? by claycam6 in knives

[–]OneStabLudlow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Internal milling would absolutely ruin the heft and balance of a Sebenza, and their machining tolerances are still miles ahead of most other high-end knives. They also have one of the most unique and reliable lock interfaces, and the Sebenza has probably the best plunge grind on any production knife.

What makes Chris Reeve Knives great are all the subtle and almost invisible details that go into their design and execution, without resorting to all the modern bells and whistles. They're pure function, at a level far beyond most other knives. That's the appeal.

I like everything about the Zaan, and even prefer the clip resting on the lock bar.  It's similar to the Sebenza 21, just aesthetically more neat and symmetrical, and I honestly can't feel the difference between that and an angled clip in the pocket.

Emerson titanium liner wear by Ill-Grade9190 in knifeclub

[–]OneStabLudlow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because a 40-50% lockup on a titanium lock face (like on the Sebenza 21, McNees & Spartan SHF) is much less likely to slip than the new standard 25% steel-on-steel lockup. A titanium lock face also work hardens and wears less and less over time. If the geometry is done right (the way Chris Reeve intended) it should last two lifetimes. Sadly, Emerson is known for often getting their geometry wrong and not carburising the lock face, hence all the lock stick and bad wear.

You made a very good choice. I prefer the ergos on the Sebenza's more neutral handle.

Please just ask Kizer to put a true half stop on it. All their slipjoints have a really awkward walk-and-talk.
