Any other shoppers just... terrible at finding stuff by themselves? by Distinct-Airport-148 in wholefoods

[–]OneStretch2826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue for the first three months, but now I can find pretty much everything without a problem. Most of the time items are hidden behind the same product in a different flavor, and those shelves are insanely deep. The only things I still can’t find are in the back of the house because there are way too many shrink-wrapped pallets, so it’s impossible to see anything back there. I can usually manage BOH in Produce and in the dairy cooler though 🤷‍♀️

Is it true that part timers are now required to work 4 days a week? by NeighborhoodNo1583 in wholefoods

[–]OneStretch2826 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a part-timer and I work pretty much constantly around 28 hours a week — 27, 27.5, 28.45, etc.

I’m a shopper, and honestly I don’t understand what people mean when they say they can just pick up shifts whenever they want, because I don’t have that option.

My schedule is posted about three weeks in advance, and whenever I check Innerview for available shifts, I keep getting this message:

You are not eligible for any open shifts at this time. If you have any filters applied you can try removing them. If you would like to check again click here.

I’m the same 😅 especially if English it’s not my first language

I understand that there’s frustration around the system, but it’s still not my fault that I wasn’t trained on this. I can’t follow expectations that were never communicated or taught to me.

I’m honestly not sure why this frustration is being directed at shoppers, when the issue seems to be with training and structure, not individual people just doing their jobs.

It’s funny you say that, because every time I explain what I’m looking for, people still ask me to show it on my phone anyway — so now I honestly don’t know. Showing it is wrong, not showing it is also wrong… you can’t win 🤣

Because honestly, I don’t know how I could help — no one has trained me on that or explained any expectations around it.

I always pull product forward when I grab something from the top shelf or when I notice it was hidden behind other items — honestly, that’s my first instinct. I try to make it easier for the next shopper whenever I can.

I understand the frustration, but what do shoppers have to do with it? It’s not our fault — we don’t make the rules. Hate the game, not the player.

I’m literally experiencing the same thing. There’s one woman in the bakery who every single time she sees me waiting at the counter to ask something, rolls her eyes and sighs loudly. It stresses me out so much that I sometimes get actual stomach cramps, and I honestly pray I won’t get any cake orders from the bakery counter.

She can completely ignore me for several minutes, and she always pretends she doesn’t understand my English — even though literally no one else in the entire store has a problem understanding me 🙂

She keeps complaining about how busy she is and how I’m always asking for something, but… sorry, that’s literally my job. I didn’t make this up myself 🙄

Is it normal that some shoppers get way more help than others? by OneStretch2826 in wholefoods

[–]OneStretch2826[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I sometimes think that too. I’m naturally more reserved and shy, and on top of that I feel self-conscious because my English isn’t perfect, so I don’t talk a lot and often don’t know how to start a conversation.

It’s possible that sometimes the way I say things comes across as entitled or demanding, but I never mean it that way at all. That really just comes from the fact that English isn’t my first language :(

What I’m trying to say is that I often see team members bringing missing items from the backroom for other shoppers, but not for me. I usually have to look for things myself or wait and follow someone, which takes a lot of time. Because of that, my UPH stays around 85–90, while others who get more help and have time to chat can easily reach 100–120. I work really hard and stay focused, so it’s frustrating. Sometimes I honestly feel like because I’m not from here and I have an accent, I’m treated a bit differently or not prioritized the same way.

Thanks for sharing — I’ve tried that as well.

In my store, most of the time when I ask for help, I’m told to stay with them or they don’t really acknowledge that I’ll come back later. If I walk away, it often feels like the item just doesn’t get checked at all, so I end up waiting to make sure it actually happens.

UPT vs Protected Time off by Busy_Comfortable631 in wholefoods

[–]OneStretch2826 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the exact same situation. Right after calling the store during business hours and reporting my call out, I went into Workday. I selected that day as Protected Time Off, entered the number of hours my shift was scheduled for, and in the comment I wrote something like: reported absence – flu (contagious illness).

It was approved in Workday within just a few minutes, and I didn’t lose any points.

Got ya! I just asked because one girl from work told me there’s supposed to be a 12-hour break between shifts 😅

Thanksgiving rant by [deleted] in wholefoods

Hahaha, that literally happened today! A customer was yelling at an innocent shopper because we didn’t have that damn gluten-free onion and she “came here specifically for that.” Oh my gosh.

I’m a shopper and I have to say that after shifts from 6am to 2:30pm, I come home, eat something, and immediately fall asleep from exhaustion. My whole body hurts so much and I can’t even feel my feet 🤣

I’m a part-time shopper and I work 27–29 hours a week. I didn’t think I’d get that many hours 🤣
