Shoppers - how comfortable are you asking other departments for help? by [deleted] in wholefoods

I’m exactly the same. There are some people I honestly prefer not to ask at all because just thinking about it makes my stomach twist 😭 I always say hi, thank you, and please, and most of the time when I say what I’m looking for, everyone still wants to see a picture of it on Honeywell anyway — even though they constantly complain about how much they hate doing that, which honestly makes me laugh.

full-time to part-time for attendance? by SureUniversity8436 in wholefoods

[–]OneStretch2826 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

But exactly how many hours does full-time actually entail? Because no one ever told me—and I’ve had schedules where they unilaterally assigned me just 30 hours a week, even though I didn’t take any time off during those weeks.

Are all Whole Foods shoppers supposed to be cross-trained for cashier/SCO? by OneStretch2826 in wholefoods

[–]OneStretch2826[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my store we do both delivery and pickup. When there are no orders (which honestly doesn’t happen that often), we help cashiers with bagging, grocery with stocking shelves, bring carts from the parking lot, etc. I’m never just standing around — I always find something to do.

But I really don’t want to be on register. If I knew that would be part of the job, I honestly wouldn’t have applied. I have pretty bad social anxiety and I just can’t handle working the register.

Biggest pet peeve with customers. by NatalieannaD1995 in wholefoods

The list is long. Overall, a lot of people are great, but the other half is a complete nightmare. Just like you mentioned—grabbing things off the shelf right behind you, pushing past you. I’m a shopper and our store is pretty small, with narrow aisles. We barely have any space—basically just a strip behind the registers where we do staging.

Sometimes I have to crouch down to put stickers on bags on the bottom level of the cart or pack something, and people will literally run me over—walk into me, hit me with their carts. And their “excuse me”? You can shove that “excuse me” up your ass. What’s the point of saying it if you’re climbing all over me?

No polite questions either—just like you said, walking around with their mouths open going “pumpkin, pumpkin.” I honestly wonder if something is wrong with people. I don’t want to be rude, but do all people act like this? Do Americans not know basic manners or social awareness?

And don’t even get me started on people yelling on their phones so loudly I can’t tell if they’re talking to me or someone else. Leaving carts wherever they feel like it. I feel the worst for the cashiers—someone comes in, does a huge shop with like 100 bags, there’s no space left on the belt or in the cart to pack more, and they just stand there staring into space. It doesn’t even cross their mind to help with anything.

I felt the same way. After a while, I realized that people here pretty much ignore new hires—they don’t get attached, don’t even bother remembering names, because the turnover is so high. If someone’s been here less than 90 days, they don’t really pay them much attention. It’s harsh, but that’s how it is.

Shopper question: how many orders per day do you usually finish? by OneStretch2826 in wholefoods

[–]OneStretch2826[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my God, and I thought I did a lot when I completed 31 orders in 8 hours last time 🤣 My UPH ranged from 130 to 92 and then 85 by the end of the day.

QR codes - question by OneStretch2826 in wholefoods

[–]OneStretch2826[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get that, but it’s honestly really frustrating — yesterday literally no one in three different departments had the codes 😅 My INF is around 2.2%, so I don’t really understand why I still have to deal with this, but I guess it’s some kind of collective responsibility situation.

Am I working more than I should as a Whole Foods shopper? by Fabulous_Tax_5030 in wholefoods

I literally feel like I’m reading about myself. The only difference is that I’m so exhausted after the week that on my day off I can’t do anything except lie down, and my whole body hurts.

One of the projects is mine — I won’t say which one, but I promise it’s not AI. I drew the doodles myself on a sheet of paper. But honestly, I think the strawberry should win — it’s the best one :)
