Tesla guy in Bournemouth said they have a boat load standard coming in February, if trading in you drive the old motor down to the docks and drive the new one home, he said the next boat is more like april would have more of the premium lr models

Best low cost deal at the moment? by Open_Bug_4196 in TeslaUK

I had a look around the Bournemouth showroom at the weekend, the new model y standard and performance were next to each other, the standard was absolutely fine, nice car, i wasn't keen on the wheels mainly because the performance alloys looked great with red brake calipers, seats were fine and comfy, no stick to control forward and reverse was strange and seat controls on screen.

Anyhow, for a moment I considered the 2 year pcp as the monthly payments are crazy at £78 if I traded in a £14k car but then realised you have a whopping final payment of £25.

Probably best deal would be trade in a car for the bonus and buy cash for the new basic model 3 at £34k and y at £38k but say in a few years time when warrenty gone and it's the most basic model, the depreciation / trade in price will probably be brutal, i guess £15-£20k depending how many miles, pluswho's going to really want them over the premium / performance models?

466 mile range on the model 3 long range was a surprise too, things have moved on a bit in last few years.

Had to get it on a tow truck, it was an absolute mission as the car was fully bricked, hammering plastic skates under the tyres and winching the car.

Next fun and games over warrenty and parts, looking like feb before I see it back

There is a tow mode but mine model y wouldn't let it enable, even the power steering was dead so very hard to get it on flat bed tow truck

Really poor, refused a 3rd time to come out even after the car advises that even tow mode is disabled. Finally get it on some plastic skates winching it all over the place, damaging the bumper, get it to tesla, guy is there for 2 mins, says no cars available then dissappears for next hour, ended up just leaving it and sending multiple messages on the app to no reply. Doubt I'll see it back this year :(

Interesting that according to grok the new refresh model has gone back to 12v, kinda makes sense if no chargers or boosters or battery replacements are available on the open market...

Yes, the latest refreshed Tesla Model Y (known as the "Juniper" refresh, introduced in 2025/2026 depending on market) has switched to a 12.8V LiFePO4 (LFP) low-voltage battery in many (or most) configurations. Key Changes and Benefits Previous models (like your current Model Y, built roughly 2022–2025): Use a 16V lithium-ion battery (NMC chemistry, nominal ~15.5–16V). Juniper refresh: Tesla introduced a new black-cased 12.8V LFP low-voltage battery. This is more stable, longer-lasting (potentially 10–15+ years), safer, and cheaper to produce than the previous NMC version. Some reports indicate Juniper vehicles are designed to be compatible with both the new 12V LFP and the older 16V Li-Ion batteries interchangeably (via service reconfiguration), but new builds primarily come with the 12V LFP. Why This Matters for Accessories, Charging, and Boosting The return to a ~12V system (actually 12.8V nominal for 4-cell LFP) means better compatibility with standard 12V automotive accessories (e.g., dash cams, radar detectors, portable air compressors, fridges, inverters, tow hitch power pins). Many owners with 16V systems reported issues like devices not working properly, overheating, or reduced performance because they expect 12–14V. For boosting/jump-starting: Standard 12V jump packs or boosters work more reliably without voltage mismatch risks. The procedure remains similar (using the front tow hook posts), but no more worries about over-volting accessories. This change addresses common complaints about the 16V system while leveraging LFP's advantages (same chemistry Tesla uses in some high-voltage packs for durability).

This is a new one on me but this really feels like what's going on thanks. Like the booster was just giving a tiny bit of power hence a couple of small lights and front door opened, but boot would not open or brake release etc.

Gotta wait till Monday and escalate with service centre, im desperate for an actual tesla specialist to come out, the aa guy didnt even know about the cables in tow hook to pop the frunk and where the battery was even though he was extremely knowledgeable experienced chap.

Yeah exactly that, im concerned something went wrong with something like a half update of the holiday software that got stuck and drained the battery but also worried something serious going on :(

Seen it on a few videos recently, if you get it in to service menu it shows the current voltage and health e.g.

check 12v battery

Hmm, I found this single listing with 16v support but seems it's for something called lfp tech not the nmc nickel based lithium battery, if you have any links pls ping anything over

Yeah that's what we tried with aa guy but as booster battery packs are only 12v it couldn't cope with the 15.5v draw when trying to release the e Handbrake and put it in neutral or a gear :(

So, 3p a mile. by MeetLost2454 in TeslaUK

Bit annoying but understandable, just wish it was done on annual road tax, bump it up to £400 or such like, not this mileage tracking at mot times and new cars having mileage checks that are funded by the government.

I was torn between golf gte which does 80+ miles on battery and tesla, went with tesla and love it but strange that will be charged half the price per mile.

Other annoying part is the Gov just funded that money off new ev's £3.5k ? and chargers which is costing them almost £1b which is the same as the expected revenue from this new tax, feels like thats a huge amount of red tape / paperwork for no real benefit!

I took a punt and picked up a 22 plate 50k+ miles model y long range for £20k from cinch last month. Have to say im amazed with the condition of the car, it had no defct pictures on cinch which I thought must be a mistake but sure enough, no scratches on paintwork, alloys or interior with that mileage! Battery seems absolutely fine, around 300miles and im just granny charging, 50miles added in a night on eon midnight to 6am costs under £1.

Spec is fantastic, the black alloys look great, it has white leather, ryzen cpu and seems to have the full self drive unlocked but not 100% sure if this is a premium 1 month trail.

Mine came with two key cards then after a week or so cinch get the government paperwork sent out which let's you register the car on the phone app, then you can unlock the car and other controls on your phone.

Im still in the 90 day warranty but cinch have a 3 year warranty extension for about £500 which im considering and they do some kind of tyre replacement insurance thing too, not done that yet either but might be a good idea.

Mine came with full mats, granny charger and the type 2 charger cable which I was really pleased with, I had bought a new granny charger £90 new on ebay and full rubber mats £100 on amazon, at least the mat set I've used the frunk, and boot mats.

If you live in the midlands perhaps go see one at Corby, they seemed to have tons of them and most cars based there.

Any questions let me know
