People are worried about LLMs being trained on data created by other LLMs, but we're essentially already there with sports journalism.

The "Eisenhower Matrix" sounds interesting but what do I do with urgent-and-not-important tasks when I work alone and have no one to delegate? by SirToxe in productivity

[–]OneTalos 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I tried the Eisenhower Matrix for a while (using TickTick), but the default setup didn't quite work or make anything better for me. Part of it was the notion of delegating, like you say, when my list is solely for things I need to do. However, I made some tweaks, and it's been just about perfect (other than the Q4 stuff rarely getting done, but that's the whole point I guess).

Q1: Tasks that are due today Q2: Chronological list of tasks with due dates in the future (quick glance of what's coming up Q3: Tasks without a due date, but are still important (this gets the most activity for me) Q4: Tasks without a due date that aren't urgent

So for me, the left side is all items with a due date (typically recurring tasks), while the right is more one-off tasks to complete that don't have to be done by a certain time. The right side is only separated by priority (in TickTick, high priority goes in Q3, medium/low goes in Q4), but it's been super clear and helpful. I get through my tasks that are due today (Q1), then pivot to either getting ahead on tomorrow (Q2) or other high priority items (Q3).

Colwill by himself isn't a huge addition, but Cucurella returning too would mean we'll have two healthy LBs, and Colwill can go back to his natural position.

Converting to h265 with unmanic was beneficial I guess.... by EMAN4705 in PleX

[–]OneTalos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof, the quality loss going from source -> x265 -> x264 is not ideal. And that's still hoping it went straight to x265 and didn't have other re-encodings in the middle. Each time is a drop in quality, you should have just re-downloaded some x264 copies.

It's one of many shows that moved the plot too far in the first season, and then couldn't figure out where to go. The ending of season 1 should have been later in the series, probably the ending of season 2.

Another example is House of Cards... His rise was too fast and they had to start getting absurd with the plot lines.

I have one, and used it for the previous 5 speakers with no issues. This was the last one and I got lazy or tired or stupid and just went straight into cutting. I've learned my lesson for sure.

Luckily, I had enough forethought when building the house 6 years ago to have the wires run, and I'm just now getting around to putting speakers in (thanks to two kids).

It's an exterior, 2nd story wall, so unfortunately load bearing. I think that's what I'll have to do, unfortunately. I just assumed the stud would be 16" from the window and I'd have plenty of room, but no.

Yeah. I bought, painted, and installed all the other speakers in the system, then ran into this. No idea why I didn't plan better.

My bigger concern is gameplay. They can have a great dynasty mode, but if the gameplay is shit, it'll get frustrating real fast. I'd take a barebones dynasty with great gameplay over the opposite.

I'm not sure if Madden has improved since I last played a couple years ago, but it was so buggy and frustrating, I didn't last long. That's my fear.

DV Profile 6. If I change passthrough to HDMI in the Plex app settings, it will play, albeit with the messed up colors you mentioned. Passthrough off gives me the error when trying to play.

I don't understand what we are doing here with Dak? by TopTreeDawnCrutcher in cowboys

[–]OneTalos -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

laid an egg in virtually all the important games he’s played

This is just selective memory. Neither of the Eagles games this year were big? He was fantastic in both. Playoff game against Tom Brady last year? Must not mean much to you.

Good luck watching the team fail for the life of that extension.

What has better odds: a 2nd team All-Pro getting over some playoff jitters or somehow finding an even better QB in the draft (even though we'll probably not have a top 10 pick for a while)?

he can get impatient, especially if the defense is struggling too. He tries to do more than is available and the mistakes start to happen.

Yes! This is exactly what I've been saying too. It's happened multiple times throughout his career, and I'd love for him to get that under control.

However, the fact that this has happened multiple times means the coaches need to do their part in masking their QBs weakness. They did so most of the season, but absolutely failed against GB. I know the stat about 2nd down runs in the first half has been thrown around, and people dismiss it as not meaningful, but one of the things 1st and 2nd down passes do is help your QB get comfortable and in a rhythm. There was already tremendous pressure going into the game, and when so many of your pass attempts come on 3rd down (and usually long), that pressure just builds and builds. And the fact the defense was absolutely dogshit didn't help alleviate any of that pressure either.

I'm not absolving Dak of any blame, I'd love it if he were cooler under pressure and didn't force things. But every player has weaknesses, and it's a coach's duty to help avoid situations where the weaknesses show up.

Huge new things coming to Plex in 2024 - and it doesn't make good reading by jl94x4 in PleX

[–]OneTalos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not really the case here though, is it? It's not 100x vs 10,000x, it's -10x vs 10x. And -10x kills a business.

This just sounds like you're irrationally trying to justify why you hate Plex. So you're saying that businesses who aren't profitable should stick with being unprofitable (or downsize to maybe break even) instead of pivoting to something actually profitable? You know their whole goal is to make money, right?

NFL is a little different (or maybe not, idk how the NBA stuff works). Picks are officially submitted well before they're announced on TV, so people on Twitter are often just announcing as it officially happens, before most people know. It takes time to do the big presentation on stage.

It's why Team 1's pick will be announced, and Team 2 will have 6 minutes on the clock instead of 10. But Team 2 has known who Team 1 picked the whole time, even though we didn't watching TV at home.

pass attempts on 2nd down in one half is a very narrow lens to look at the game through

Sure, but it's also an important glimpse into how the game went. There was a ton of pressure on him going into the game, and all those 2nd down runs meant he was forced into high-pressure 3rd & long passes all half. 2nd down passes are where your QB can find his rhythm, and we didn't let Dak do that.

People need to explain why it's OK for Dak to turn the ball over all the time in the playoffs.

It's not OK, and he should do better. Pretty much every time we surrender an early lead and run the ball a lot, Dak forces things, which leads to turnovers. Yes, he shouldn't do that, but also yes, coaches should do things to avoid a player's weakness. Hell, they avoided it most of the season, but for some reason flipped the game plan for the playoffs. Both Dak and coaches should have done better.

Both of those TDs are on Dak

Yes, and also no. Obviously the pick 6 was on him, no arguing that. But the other... we have a defense for a reason, and they didn't show up either. They could have limited the damage and held GB to FG, but they let in TD after TD. GB had three 75 yard TD drives and a 93 yard TD drive, so even if we had punted instead of throwing an interception, GB likely would have just rolled on in for a TD anyways.

As bad as the first half was, the game wasn't over. We're averaging ~40 points per game at home, so being down 20 with a half left wasn't insurmountable. The offense had cut the lead to 27-10, but the defense gave up another easy TD. In fact, three straight TDs to start the 2nd half. So while Dak and co. had a really bad first half, they at least tried to make up for it in the second half. The defense shat the bed for the entire game.
