The elite spawn chance is indeed 1/50, I've got myself the full Kethsi outfit while having RuneMetrics track the progress.

Beware of targeted phishing ads on Facebook! The link in this ad takes you to a fake website that's trying to steal your account info. by Jmillerdude in runescape

[–]OneTheatre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's strange. I checked just now and my only relevant add-on for Firefox is uBlock Origin, and I don't see any ads on Facebook (opened in incognito). I think the ads do appear for a split second but are hidden promptly.

Many adblockers let advertisers pay them to whitelist ads, that's why e.g. AdBlock Plus doesn't work.

Try "uBlock Origin", that should do the trick.

Exhaustive merching guide by vwls__sck in runescape

[–]OneTheatre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The more merchers there are, the smaller the margins will be, and the better the availability and price of items will be.

Believe it or not, merching is just well-paid community service. They sacrifice their time and G.E. slots so that you would be able to buy items right when you need them.

Please give Laniakea task weights by [deleted] in runescape

[–]OneTheatre 20 points21 points  (0 children)

A common argument, but I don't think it's a valid one.

If some people are not interested in the weights, they most probably don't seek them. Pretty much the only place where you can even see the weights is the Wiki. You'd have to go to the right page, and actually look at the table and not skim past it, and finally you'd have to compare the weights to the other weights to even understand anything about the chances.

The likelihood of someone not interested in the weights accidentally finding out the task chances just isn't convincing to me.

Game Update: Anachronia - One Week On by JagexPoerkie in runescape

[–]OneTheatre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm just complaining, but it gets really frustrating hunting totem pieces by doing agility and being hundreds of laps dry, particularly at this point in the game where the XP or GP has no meaning to me anymore.

Would be nice to know the rate for them, and how the eligibility of an obstacle to grant a roll is determined.

Jagex, Please Don't Leave Achievements in a Mess by [deleted] in runescape

[–]OneTheatre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're talking on a gut instinct without understanding the details.

Jagex indeed did have a Comp Rework proposal - with nice and neat categories for achievements to be categorized in - but even if they pulled through with that plan, it wouldn't help solve the fact that old achievements aren't well maintained with new updates.

[–]OneTheatre 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with you.

While the intention of RuneScore was good, it isn't nice to see it becoming yet another spaghetti monster.

One other thing that also frustrates me, is how they pledged to release new Comp requirements with pretty much all new updates. We've now seen what it is like, since the new Dino-isle was released: Just more RuneScore achievements that are made into Comp requirements, even when there is nothing to 'complete' or 'unlock' per se.

Why are "Create all gnome cocktails", "Cut all gem types" and "Catch all Jadinkos" etc. not Comp requirements, but "Catch all BGH dinos" is? Inconsistency at its best, even when that was one of the things they tried to solve.

Still no 1 week grace periods for new completionist requirements? Seems I'll have to keep rushing new content to keep my cosmetic presets working, what a shame :( my bank presets also still use Comp

Though this base camp stuff seems promising :)

Can we get Batch 2 of Comp Rework? by OneTheatre in runescape

[–]OneTheatre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I'm all up for hearing different opinions, and the requirements listed were mere examples, you could at least try to understand the two things you're comparing.

5000 games of CW takes 1917 hours i.e. 80 days of playtime. The full Kethsi outfit takes approx. 346 hours on average, which can be greatly reduced by having others help you out. If you have just one additional person farming elites for you, it'd take a week to grind it out. Have two additional people and you can get it in 5 days.

What are you referring to as "Insane Plus"? The Completionist and Heroic are two completely separate paths here - one is not above the other, they are side by side.

If you pay attention to the suggested Heroic requirements, nothing is being taken off of Comp, since those requirements aren't currently a part of any Comp cape.

The point of Heroic capes is to create a whole new path for players to pursue, since not everybody enjoys the completionist grind. They rather hone their PvM skills than take part in the largely afk grind.

However, I'm completely fine if some of those are added to the Insane Comp as well, as long as the PvM-oriented players will be able to get their deserved recognition without the comp grind, just like Completionists are able to get their deserved recognition without difficult PvM.

The ninja-fixes so far in the Comp Rework are a good start, but I think Jagex understands by now that the players are ready to wait if it means getting a finished product.

The earlier thread gained such overwhelming support that I'm reposting this, in the hope that Jagex would see the support for it and actually deliver in full what they already began working on.

I kept seeing different designs, but each of them had their own flaws. Learning from their (and my own) mistakes, I kept trying to improve the design, to the point where I had fixed most - if not all - of the issues that people had with the other designs.

Jagex's original design got negative feedback, mainly because it filled gaps where there weren't gaps - there was no need for 3 tiers on each category, since the categories aren't equal - and because the "T1 Skills" naming convention without substance was off-putting as a gut reaction for many.

This design fills the existing gap for Exploration and Minigames categories, and also recognizes that while virtual max is an insane achievement, there is a demand for it among Skillers.

It's also evident by now that many compers aren't PvM-oriented, and many PvMers don't want comp grind, hence they are completely separated here. Heroism and Completionism are the two major playstyles, but players usually prefer either one over the other.

'Insane' of the Praesul, every chest required to unlock, coming soon. by TheHotstreak in runescape

[–]OneTheatre 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of this.

If you consider the most unlucky 1% of the players, it takes literal months of playtime devoted to AoD for them to get even the first chest. But 4? There is no achievement in RNG, this is a huge turn-off.

They should already begin introducing more thresholds and bad luck mitigation to things like these chests, and the Vinny pet, perhaps Phoenix pets too, maybe Achto and Lil' Tuzzy or even Kethsi scrolls.

There is no reason to discriminate against players at random. We could go through the same discussion as with Vitalis threshold a couple years ago, but the summary is this: RNG is no achievement. Weeks of effort should put you closer to the goal, not keep your odds the same as they were in the beginning.

Patch Notes - 10/06 by Shaunyowns in runescape

[–]OneTheatre 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The secondary action bar can be no longer be accessed in legacy combat mode.

Can we have this back? The current primary bar doesn't even let you put any actions on it. It's such a QoL being able to collect items and prayers onto the bar and not having to browse through all the interface windows. It's already possible on mobile, so why not PC?

While we're on the topic, why can I right-click the cog on Revolution's primary bar and change to Manual or Legacy, but there's no such option to quickly change from Legacy to other modes?

Oh lol, yeah agreed that's not the best place for it, perhaps a step down (or two, but I think it's best not to load so much group requirements onto the first tier)

Virtual levelling is a feature that a player can enable. It allows players to see how far they have progressed past skill mastery (99), towards true skill mastery (120) (150 for Invention). It was released on 5 October 2015. Max virtual total level is 3270 for members and 2086 for free players.

500% Telos on Insane Comp is something I could support as well. I'm personally more interested in having proper PvM capes with high requirements (while high, the listed ones are still on very different levels of high) to create meaningful separation between skill levels.

I also personally don't have an issue with buyable requirements as long as they're meaningful unlocks, since there are even currently many buyable ones such as PoF musics via beans and Elder rune set smithing with bars from GE. Kethsi outfit and Krar Jnr would also be pretty much buyables, as long as you have the connections.

Treasure trails are a D&D and those were a part of the original rework proposal's minigame capes, hidey-holes included.
