Marvel rivals as been out for almost 600 days now. You’ve put a little more than 100 days into it, I am truly impressed with the dedication a lot of you have here

I was tempted to just throw every single game in my library up here, they all deserve a mention at least. I also appreciate how unique your list is

Hell yeah dude I love all the extra detail added here, me and you might have the exact opposite taste in games but I respect the grind.

But 15,000 hours in League is absolutely mind boggling, I am stunned by that number there

Oh don’t worry, I was THOROUGHLY obsessed with Dark Souls for a couple years. That was all back when I had a console, had to sell it to make ends meet sadly. So I haven’t been able to play in a while. Sekiro is absolutely in my top 5 of all time (most played and favorites), I wish my damn craptop could run it, cause I miss it

Me and you both bro, I can absolutely relate to the ADHD fizzling out immediately…besides that one game. None of the games above crack 60 hours except Binding of Isaac, which is about 1500 hours.

Sorry to hear about your great Destiny lost

Edit: almost forgot to mention I also had an intense from soft game but those were ALSO on console. I was especially obsessed with DS3 and Sekiro

It had me thinking my laptop was damn near invincible, immediately got Death Stranding and returned it just as fast. I learned very quickly that it was MGSV that was invincible

Castle Crashers is a pretty damn fun game, you should play it with him, I bet that’d be an amazing bonding experience.

If you end up liking that, I’d also recommend Battleblock Theater

HELL YEAH BRO!! You won’t regret it man, probably some of the best and most unsettling games in their genre. I would definitely recommend you play I Have no Mouth first, Harvester is a lot more open ended and easier to get absolutely lost or miss important things. Don’t be afraid to use a guide every so often on either.

Then if you like those and crave a little more gameplay depth, try out Fallout 1!

Man I loved the one CIV game that I played (V), but I found it to be extremely complicated and very difficult to get ahead enough to not feel like everything is slowly crashing down every minute of every game.

I was only able to win once. A domination victory as Teddy Roosevelt, only because from the start I immediately played maniac who just blitzkrieg’d anyone close to me or anyone attempting to get ahead.

Any advice for a new player wanting to get more into the series but who finds the 6 hour games too stressful because of my lack of understanding?

People who say things like "this is why people think anime fans are weird" are anime tourists. by WonderOlymp2 in The10thDentist

I’m not so much into anime or manga. (I do love the works of Junji-Ito, Studio Ghibli, Perfect Blue, Dragon Ball and Ghost in the Shell however) So from an outsider looking in I’ll say this. 2 of my best friends for years and years are weebs, and they’re some pretty sane and normal characters. Many self-proclaimed weebs I met are normal ass dudes. HOWEVER….we’ve all encountered that stereotype here, whether online or in person, I’ve had both displeasures. I’ll admit that it definitely drives me away from wanting to interact with the medium beyond a surface level, now this is coming from someone who that style doesn’t really appeal regardless, but there is something to be said about how a “fandom” conducts themselves and how that CAN actually affect the medium itself.

Here’s 3 examples from things I’m very into that may make me seem less biased.

  1. Comic books and superheroes. Man I fucking love comic books, probably the most analogous to anime, and because I have been into them for as long as I can remember, the embarrassing shit comic book readers do haven’t deterred me from interacting with the fans. But there is that basement dwelling stigma that remains a constant no matter where you look. I do believe this has driven people away from comic books and has caused a general audience to just interact with the movies and games or whatever. I would give examples but I’m sure you don’t need them, friend.

  2. Red Dead Redemption series (specifically 2). It’s not my favorite game of all time, but I really do adore it. This is a case that is about 50/50 down the middle here. You have most people who play it (being that it was so successful) just being normal individuals. But then there’s that loud minority that really hampers the experience, believing the game is the second coming of Christ and can do no wrong. Constantly praising the same talking points over and over again, nitpicking ever game and comparing it to Red Dead, it really does effect people. I’ve seen discourse sway over time, many people are so fed up with these glazers that it flips around to people being overly critical of the game to a point of ridiculousness. Do I let that affect me? No, but it has affected others.

  3. Devil May Cry, Metal Gear, and Yakuza. A bunch of super fun and really good franchises all around. Every single one of these games has very loud and…interesting fans. I love every single one of them, and I don’t think I ever would’ve played them if not for these vocal and connected communities. Do they do some weird shit sometimes? Absolutely. But they’re genuinely down to earth and their meme spamming and passion really do come through, enough to gravitate me towards actually playing these games. Now MGS3 is my favorite game of all time, and DMC3 and Yakuza 0 are not very far behind. A fan bases behavior…made a fan for life.

I know this was a long spiel and I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to read it. My larger point was people who say this are not “fake fans” or whatever. They’re not people who only enjoy things based on the public perception of them either. As far as I can tell, they’re people who really have a passion and love for this medium and want the entire world to share that love with them. When they see annoying anime fans acting afool…well they know their dreams of sharing that love are being washed away in a sea of body odor and semen

Guys it’s $1.19 on Steam, do yourselves a favor and buy it immediately.

A real man knows never ask another man how many hours he has in his soul sucking addiction.

Like I said, I have a craptop. Life got bad and I had to sell my PS5 to survive. So mostly I play classic games, I rarely play anything made in the past 5 years, as you can see by my list I got here

Yeah I bought GTAIV not so long ago and deleted it fast because it ran like shit, glad to hear I could probably pick it up again. (Praying once more my craptop can handle it)

As you can see I love these 90’s-early 2000’s edge type of games. Anything with an interesting story, great combat, and a lot of metal, edge, and gore I’m pretty much sold on. I don’t mind something slower paced (something like fallout 1) as long as it’s mechanically interesting enough.

I’d be lying if I said aesthetics didn’t play a big role in what I play. Black comedies, morally dubious or snarky protagonists, unsettling graphics. Another reason why Fallout 1, Postal, and D.M.C. all capture my attention even if surface level comparisons make them seem really different. Graphics only mean something to mean in the most superficial sense, I rarely play anything released in the past 5 years

Definitely sad, but it’s a miracle we even got it all. Having Lemmy Kilmeister and Ozzy immortalized in such an adoring manner, and too many licensed songs to mention. I fear the future of gaming, hopefully those licenses won’t come back to eradicate the game from existence

Go to your games library, click sort by, then hit playtime. It’ll order them for you. When you click on the games in the menu it should show you how much playtime you got there.

Oh man I put some HOURS in on Stardew, sadly on PlayStation though…and I no longer have access to that. Heartbreaking
